ABOUT THE JOB

The Tepa Companies are seeking a Project Engineer - Mechanical who participates in project design from the conceptual phase to the construction phase. This role collaborates with various project teams to develop, refine, and update design criteria and direction. It is responsible for generating engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates where applicable.

This position is suitable for upcoming May 2025 graduates or recent graduates in relevant fields. As Tepa continues to grow, we focus on hiring recent graduates for entry-level roles that offer hands-on learning, mentorship, and career growth. The role requires completed education in the relevant discipline but no prior work experience.

Job Functions:

  1. Make decisions independently and receive supervision mainly on overall objectives and results.
  2. Define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
  3. Perform tasks related to Mechanical Engineering on MEP projects, including preliminary investigations, scoping, budgeting, and project execution methods.
  4. Develop schematic, 30%, 60%, and 100% design phase documents, technical specifications, and construction plans.
  5. Simulate and model building HVAC and energy systems.
  6. Design HVAC systems, including code review, load calculations, and equipment sizing.
  7. Create designs, layouts, and plans conforming to applicable codes and standards from sketches and diagrams.
  8. Support HVAC projects, including retrofit projects, client and contractor interfacing, cost estimation, energy audits, and upgrades.
  9. Assist during construction with site visits, submittal reviews, and RFIs.
  10. Maintain effective team and client relations.
  11. Prepare technical reports, calculations, and recommendations.
  12. Produce non-routine plans, reports, and specifications.
  13. Estimate project costs.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in architectural or mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited institution; other relevant fields accepted.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience; internship experience preferred.
  • Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Understanding of design best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, Trane Trace, or Carrier HAP.
  • Previous federal project design experience is a plus.
