Job summary

Graycor's Summer Internship Program offers hands-on experience on a commercial construction site, under the guidance of project managers and superintendents. You will develop skills in scheduling, documentation, procurement, and safety, while building professional relationships across the project team.

You must be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in construction management, engineering, or a related field, able to travel and live on site for the summer.

Qualifications

• Be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in construction management, engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Must be able to travel extensively and reside at the project site for the summer internship.
• Ambition to grow professionally in construction within the private commercial sector.
• Ability to juggle priorities in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communication with managers, co-workers, subcontractors, and construction craft employees.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Manager and Superintendent in project control and management, ensuring safety and quality programs are executed on the site.
• Develop and maintain the critical path schedule, including revisions; assist with short-term look-ahead schedules and Lean Construction techniques.
• Maintain project documentation and expedite to Owner, Architect, and Engineers; understand contract provisions and requirements.
• Assist in procurement of equipment and materials and track their delivery.
• Track and evaluate subcontractor and vendor performance; interact on technical and contractual matters.
