Job summary

Helix Electric Inc. is offering a Project Engineer Intern program in Manassas, VA. You will assist the Project Manager, act as the liaison between field and office, and help plan, execute, and finalize projects within schedule and budget.

You will build relationships with project teams, track materials, support safety, and gain hands-on experience with estimating tools like Accubid while supporting procurement and BIM coordination.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in a related field.
• Previous construction or internship experience preferred.
• Strong initiative and motivation to learn.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Good organizational skills and ability to work with all levels of the organization.
• Ability to perform basic math and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Manager on projects and liaise between field and office.
• Define project objectives by planning, executing, and finalizing within schedule and budget.
• Develop relationships with project managers, subcontractors, engineers, and vendors.
• Track material with superintendent and coordinate with vendors for tracking and close-out.
• Support safety culture and monitor jobsite safety and accident prevention.
• Assist with Change Order process and learn Accubid estimating tools.
• Analyze subcontract agreements to understand scope of work and pricing.
• Involve with material and equipment procurement.
• Coordinate with BIM department for planning and coordination.
• Produce and maintain detailed job logs (transmittals, submittals, RFIs).
• Provide exposure to quality control and labor scheduling.
