Job summary

The Goley Insulation division of The Goley Companies in Dupo, IL is offering a Project Engineer Intern role to support preconstruction and project management teams. You’ll work closely with team members to understand project scopes, develop takeoffs, and help create bid packages, while also learning to carry out a variety of project management responsibilities.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field.
Interest in construction preconstruction and estimating.
Familiarity with blueprint reading and drafting.

Responsibilities

Assist on projects of varying size and complexity.
Review plans, specifications, and related documents.
Prepare quantity takeoffs and preliminary estimates.
Help prepare bid packages and manage bid documentation.
Support clear handoffs of estimates to sales and project management teams.
Read and interpret architectural drawings.
Input project data into Plan Swift and Excel.
Compose and track RFIs.
Assist in reviewing subcontractor proposals.
Ensure timely and complete estimate submissions.
Assist with project management tasks.

As a Project Engineer Intern, you will support our Preconstruction and Project Management Teams in preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates and executing a variety of projects. You’ll work closely with team members to understand project scopes, develop takeoffs, and help create bid packages, while also learning to carry out a variety of project management responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Assist on projects of varying size and complexity

Work Environment: Primarily office-based, with occasional site visits to active construction projects.

Physical Requirements: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, work at a computer, and review both physical and digital construction documents.

Qualifications

Required:

Currently enrolled in a college/university program pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field (e.g., Civil Engineering, Architecture, Building Science)
Strong interest in construction, preconstruction and/or estimating
Familiarity with blueprint reading and drafting
Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
Comfortable working both independently and within a team
Strong communication and organizational abilities

Preferred:

Experience or coursework using PlanSwift, Excel, Outlook and Adobe PDF
