Murray Company in Cypress, CA is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Industrial division, supporting mechanical and piping projects across aviation, water/wastewater, and power sectors. You will help plan, coordinate, and manage activities to ensure projects meet schedule and funding targets.

This key entry point into construction project management offers collaboration with top project managers and field leaders, travel across Southern California, and a comprehensive rewards package

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, mechanical engineering or similar; or equivalent field experience.
• 3+ years of progressive project engineering experience at a mechanical contractor.
• Proficiency in Excel, MS Project, Procore, and related construction software.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Manager in planning work schedule, determining manpower levels, and assigning project personnel.
• Assist in coordinating project personnel activities to ensure schedule and budget adherence.
• Advise on potential problems and help resolve schedule difficulties as required.
• Compose and/or edit letters, memos, reports, and procedures as required.
• Oversee and process day-to-day administrative items per supervisor’s authorization.
• Prepare special reports, studies, and statistical analyses as requested.

Position Summary

The Project Engineer (PE) position at Murray Company is a key entry point into construction project management, and play a critical role in the success of each project. As an experienced Project Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work alongside best-in-industry project managers and field leaders within our Industrial division supporting specialty projects in mechanical and piping for various markets like aviation, water & wastewater treatment, and power plants. This role provides business and administrative support to facilitate the planning and coordination of activities of assigned project to ensure that goals and objectives of project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.

Location

Cypress, CA with anticipated travel in and around the greater Southern California metropolitan areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Project Manager in planning work schedule, determining manpower levels, and arranging for assignment of project personnel.
• Assist in the coordination of project personnel activities to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
• May advise Project Manager of potential problems, work interferences, and schedule difficulties. Assist in circumventing/resolving such problems as required.
• Compose and/or edit letters, memos, reports, and procedures as required.
• Oversee and/or process day-to-day administrative items per supervisor’s authorization.
• Prepare special reports, studies, and statistical analysis per supervisor’s request. Such items would usually require research, development and/or interpretation of data and be performed with little instruction or supervision.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, mechanical engineering or similar area of study, and/or previous direct field and craft experience.
• 3+ years of progressive project engineering experience at a mechanical contractor.
• Proficiency in various construction software and enterprise tools (Excel, MS Project, Procore, etc.).

Preferred

• Previous construction experience on industrial piping projects (water/wastewater treatment, jet fuel, power plants, oil & gas, etc.). Experience working on purification or power generation projects a significant plus.
• Hands-on experience working directly with union field / craft / trades.
• Proficiency with Revit, Navisworks and/or Autodesk (ACC) Build.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• Must have sufficient visual acuity to read printed and digital documents.
• Must be able to climb ladders, access and egress trenches and/or attic spaces and/or confined spaces.
• Requires hearing ability to communicate in noisy environments.
• Must be able to recognize alarms, signals, and verbal instructions.
• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
• Ability to grasp, handle, and manipulate small objects.

Compensation

$90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
