Job summary

Murray Company is seeking a Project Engineer in Cypress, CA (with some travel in Southern California) to join its Industrial division, supporting mechanical and piping projects across aviation, water treatment, and power generation sectors.

The role provides administrative support to project teams and a path into construction project management, reporting to experienced managers and field leaders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering; field experience a plus.
• 3+ years of progressive project engineering experience in a mechanical contractor.
• Proficiency with construction software and enterprise tools (Excel, MS Project, Procore).

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Manager in planning work schedules, manpower, and assignments.
• Coordinate project personnel activities to keep progress on schedule and within budget.
• Identify potential problems and assist in resolution; prepare reports and analyses as required.
• Prepare letters, memos, and procedures and manage day-to-day administrative tasks.

Position Summary
The Project Engineer (PE) position at Murray Company is a key entry point into construction project management, and play a critical role in the success of each project. As an experienced Project Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work alongside best-in-industry project managers and field leaders within our Industrial division supporting specialty projects in mechanical and piping for various markets like aviation, water & wastewater treatment, and power plants. This role provides business and administrative support to facilitate the planning and coordination of activities of assigned project to ensure that goals and objectives of project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.
Location: Cypress, CA with anticipated travel in and around the greater Southern California metropolitan areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Project Manager in planning work schedule, determining manpower levels, and arranging for assignment of project personnel.
• Assist in the coordination of project personnel activities to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
• May advise Project Manager of potential problems, work interferences, and schedule difficulties. Assist in circumventing/resolving such problems as required.
• Compose and/or edit letters, memos, reports, and procedures as required.
• Oversee and/or process day-to-day administrative items per supervisor’s authorization.
• Prepare special reports, studies, and statistical analysis per supervisor’s request. Such items would usually require research, development and/or interpretation of data and be performed with little instruction or supervision.

Qualifications

• Required — Bachelor's degree in construction management, mechanical engineering or similar area of study, and/or previous direct field and craft experience.
• 3+ years of progressive project engineering experience at a mechanical contractor.
• Proficiency in various construction software and enterprise tools (Excel, MS Project, Procore, etc.).
• Preferred — Previous construction experience on industrial piping projects (water/wastewater treatment, jet fuel, power plants, oil & gas, etc.). Experience working on purification or power generation projects a significant plus.
• Hands-on experience working directly with union field / craft / trades.
• Proficiency with Revit, Navisworks and/or Autodesk (ACC) Build.
• Physical Requirements
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• Must have sufficient visual acuity to read printed and digital documents.
• Must be able to climb ladders, access and egress trenches and/or attic spaces and/or confined spaces.
• Requires hearing ability to communicate in noisy environments.
• Must be able to recognize alarms, signals, and verbal instructions.
• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
• Ability to grasp, handle, and manipulate small objects.

Compensation

$90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
