Job summary

Murray Company Mechanical Contractors is seeking a Project Engineer in Cypress, CA to join a seasoned team supporting industrial mechanical and piping projects across markets such as aviation, water treatment, and power generation.

You will aid in planning, coordinating, and administering projects, collaborating with project managers and field leaders to meet milestones, budgets, and safety standards. Travel in Southern California is anticipated.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, mechanical engineering or similar field.
  • 3+ years of progressive project engineering experience at a mechanical contractor.
  • Proficiency with construction software and enterprise tools such as Excel, MS Project, Procore.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Manager in planning work schedule and manpower needs.
  • Coordinate project personnel activities to keep projects on schedule and budget.
  • Identify potential problems and help resolve scheduling issues as needed.
  • Prepare letters, memos, reports, and procedures.
  • Handle day-to-day administrative tasks as directed.
  • Develop special reports and analyses with minimal supervision.

Position Summary

The Project Engineer (PE) position at Murray Company is a key entry point into construction project management, and play a critical role in the success of each project. As an experienced Project Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work alongside best-in-industry project managers and field leaders within our Industrial division supporting specialty projects in mechanical and piping for various markets like aviation, water & wastewater treatment, and power plants. This role provides business and administrative support to facilitate the planning and coordination of activities of assigned project to ensure that goals and objectives of project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.

Location

Cypress, CA with anticipated travel in and around the greater Southern California metropolitan areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Project Manager in planning work schedule, determining manpower levels, and arranging for assignment of project personnel.
  • Assist in the coordination of project personnel activities to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
  • May advise Project Manager of potential problems, work interferences, and schedule difficulties. Assist in circumventing/resolving such problems as required.
  • Compose and/or edit letters, memos, reports, and procedures as required.
  • Oversee and/or process day-to-day administrative items per supervisor's authorization.
  • Prepare special reports, studies, and statistical analysis per supervisor's request. Such items would usually require research, development and/or interpretation of data and be performed with little instruction or supervision.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, mechanical engineering or similar area of study, and/or previous direct field and craft experience.
  • 3+ years of progressive project engineering experience at a mechanical contractor.
  • Proficiency in various construction software and enterprise tools (Excel, MS Project, Procore, etc.).

Preferred

  • Previous construction experience on industrial piping projects (water/wastewater treatment, jet fuel, power plants, oil & gas, etc.). Experience working on purification or power generation projects a significant plus.
  • Hands-on experience working directly with union field / craft / trades.
  • Proficiency with Revit, Navisworks and/or Autodesk (ACC) Build.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must have sufficient visual acuity to read printed and digital documents.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, access and egress trenches and/or attic spaces and/or confined spaces.Requires hearing ability to communicate in noisy environments.
  • Must be able to recognize alarms, signals, and verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
  • Ability to grasp, handle, and manipulate small objects.
Compensation

$90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
