The Weitz Company is currently seeking a Project Engineer II to join our Industrial team. Initial assignment is Beaumont, TX, with travel as needed. This role supports preconstruction, planning, buyout, and closeout, while monitoring project status to protect schedule and budget.

You may supervise site personnel and report to the Project Manager. We value initiative, strong communication, and organization, and encourage growth.

Qualifications

• Industry-related degree required.
• Minimum of two years of construction project management experience preferred.
• LEAN principles experience desirable.
• OSHA 30 preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire.
• Industrial construction experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Organize, review, update, maintain, and post construction documents/drawings.
• Collaborate with project team to complete RFIs.
• Review submittals for accuracy against plans and specs.
• Assist in preparing inspections, audits, and non-conformance log.
• Manage material and equipment delivery status.
• Maintain and distribute accurate project logs.
• Draft scopes of work for subcontracts/POs.
• Track subcontractor change requests; draft change orders.
• Utilize virtual design tools for project coordination.
• Obtain and manage closeout information and punch lists.

We are currently accepting applications for a Project Engineer II to join our Industrial team. (Must be willing to travel based on the needs of the project). Initial assignment is in Beaumont, TX.

The Project Engineer I/II is responsible for several functions throughout the duration of assigned projects including preconstruction, planning, buyout, management and closeout. This role actively monitors project status and informs the project team of any issues that may impact the project schedule and/or budget. The Project Engineer I/II typically reports to the Project Manager and may supervise other site personnel. What You'll Do:

• Organize, review, update, maintain, and post construction documents/drawings
• Collaborate with project team to complete requests for information (RFI)
• Review submittals and other project documents for accuracy against plans and specifications
• Assist in preparing inspections, compliance audits, and the non-conformance log
• Manage material and equipment delivery status
• Maintain and distribute accurate project logs
• Draft scopes of work to be included in subcontracts and/or purchase order agreements
• Track subcontractor requests for change; solicit pricing and draft change orders within delegated authority
• Utilize virtual design tools to assist with project coordination
• Obtain and manage closeout information, gather punch list items, prepare as-built drawings, and assist with warranty process
• Travel and/or relocate to specified work assignments based on the needs of the company

What We're Looking For:

• Experience:
  • Industry related degree required
  • Minimum of two (2) years of construction project management experience is preferred
  • LEAN principles experience is desirable
  • OSHA 30 preferred, or the willingness to obtain upon hire
  • Industrial construction is preferred
