Mortenson Construction is seeking a Project Engineer II to oversee field coordination, review plans, and manage permits and documentation on a dynamic construction project in Denver. The role emphasizes collaboration with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure schedule adherence and quality compliance.

The candidate will develop tracking logs, manage submittals, and mentor junior engineers while maintaining a focus on safety and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering or Construction Management is required.
• Detail orientation to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Strong teamwork, initiative, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Current driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Interpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and craft persons.
• Implement the pre-construction quality plan and manage testing and inspection processes.
• Obtain and maintain construction permits; manage fee payments and recurring expenses.
• Develop and maintain Material Tracking List, Project Test and Inspection Listing, Concrete Placement Log, and Non-Conformance Report.
• Manage, create, and distribute contract documents; establish handling procedures for electronic documents (RFIs, correspondence).
• Manage submittals: set up register, obtain approvals, prepare transmittals, coordinate packaging and processing.
• Expedite submittals to align with project schedule; communicate submittal process details to subcontractors and suppliers.
• Closeout procedures: posting revisions and updates to as-built construction documents.
• Mentor, manage, and evaluate field engineers; determine alternative work methods as needed.
• Coordinate safety and compliance for all team members; maintain schedule of timelines and ensure completion.
