Job summary

Southland Industries, Inc. is seeking a lead project engineer to support multiple mechanical projects, acting as a key technical resource on smaller to mid-size initiatives. You will collaborate with management and stakeholders to keep timelines and budgets on track, manage change orders, and expedite materials as needed.

You will interpret plans, assemble submittal packages, procure equipment and services, and help select subcontractors, while addressing complex questions as they arise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent education, training and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC and plumbing systems; ability to read mechanical/plumbing plans.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills including CADD and Microsoft Office (Excel).

Job description

This position is responsible for supporting the project team on several smaller or larger complex projects. Serves as a lead technical resource on smaller projects.

  • Manages change orders. Ensures they are completed accurately and tracked as required. Expedites material as needed. Estimates the impact of project changes.

  • Procures equipment and materials and services; and participates in selection and hiring of subcontractors.
  • Analyzes and resolves more complex questions and problems as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent education, training and experience
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable systems design, such as HVAC, plumbing, etc., as well as general understanding of system operations.
  • Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, including CADD and Microsoft Office, such as Excel
