Job summary

The State of North Carolina, Department of Transportation, Asheville, seeks an Engineer III (NS) to provide engineering support and manage project development from concept to letting. You will coordinate with DOT divisions, engineering firms, and local agencies.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in engineering and four years of experience; PE registration may be required. Will travel as needed in this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and four years of progressively responsible experience.
• May require professional engineer registration by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support to manage and coordinate project development efforts.
• Track all aspects of projects from conception to completion including feasibility, design, ROW, environmental issues, budget and letting.
• Liaise between the Department, engineering firms, municipalities and developers; communicate with officials and agencies.
• Provide status reports on projects and funding sources to the Division Project Development Engineer and Division Engineer.
• Occasional travel and valid driver's license required.
