Chevron Phillips Chemical is currently seeking a Project Engineer to join the Technical team for the Golden Triangle Polymers (GTP) facility located in Orange, TX. This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your experience and be part of a team contributing to the design, startup, and operation of a new plant from the ground up. In this role, the Project Engineer will have primary responsibility for supporting the ethylene scope initially and planning and facilitating the process for effective system turnover.

This position will be assigned to the project location in Orange, TX and will transition to ongoing operations following commissioning and startup with an expected commitment through stable startup operations. The GTP project includes the engineering/design, construction, and commissioning of a petrochemicals complex to produce ethylene and high-density polyethylene (HDPE). The facility is expected to have a 2,080 KTA ethane cracker and two high-density polyethylene derivative units with a combined capacity of 2,000 KTA. #HPCP

Responsibilities - GTP Project
  • Drives project team through systems completions and ensures timely and organized system handover including handover authorization sequence and signoff, and punch list assignment / completion.
  • Works closely with EPC System Completions, Construction, and Quality Assurance & Commissioning teams to coordinate turnover by system and to communicate expectations for each system.
  • Develops tools and visualizations for System tracking and reporting (i.e. PowerBI Dashboards).
  • Participates in SIMOPS, pre-commissioning and system walkdown activities.
  • Reviews and provides feedback on pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up plans and execution.
  • Supports Engineering, Quality and Construction to identify technical project gaps and working with EPC to develop suitable solutions.
  • Supports Equipment Preservation & Protection.
  • Supports Factory Acceptance and Site Acceptance activities to help drive equipment release and punch list item closure.
  • Supports vendor needs for pre-commissioning and commissioning and collaborates with Operations on vendor support needs for startup.
  • Design and execute capital and expense projects including modification and/or addition to facilities according to appropriate CPDEP project execution process and Chevron Phillips Engineering Standards
  • Responsible for taking a project from conception, through detailed design and to financial closure after construction including managing the development and evaluation of all appropriate PSI and PSM documentation
  • Coordinates activities of the integrated project team generally including representatives from engineering, operations, maintenance, environmental, safety, plant management and the product line SBU
  • Interfaces with Field Construction Representative to ensure project execution and safety policies are consistently followed for all project assignments
  • Manages schedule progress, cost control, financial tracking, reporting, and forecasting of projects.
  • Assists with developing and revising project engineering procedures and tools.
Responsibilities - Plant Operations (continued)
  • Provides engineering and design support to plant as required, including selection and procurement of engineering equipment and related services.
  • Support turnaround project planning and execution.
  • Promote a safe environment by adheringto our Tenets of Operations, Life Saving Rules, Stop Work Responsibility, Conduct of Operations/ Operational Discipline, and timely incident reporting and investigation.
Skills / Abilities
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Positive attitude, proactive and ability to maintain team harmony.
Required Qualifications
  • At least 7years of related petrochemical industry experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of industry codes such as ASME, API, ASTM, etc.
  • PowerBI experience.
