Job summary

GELOCK in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Project Engineer to support project managers from estimate to completion. You’ll help prepare estimates, coordinate labor, equipment, and material resources, and keep projects on schedule and within budget.

You’ll build strong customer relationships, work with shop, warehouse, scheduling, and field teams, and assist with project closeout, invoicing, and potential business development activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent)
• Valid driver's license required.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
• Ability to read drawings, understand project scopes, and assist with preparing accurate estimates.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with customers and internal teams.
• Experience with ERP or project management software, or the ability to quickly learn new systems.
• Experience working with cranes, lift trucks, tractors, or heavy industrial equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing accurate project estimates and support project planning.
• Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, and schedules to keep projects on time and within budget.
• Build strong relationships with customers through clear communication and updates.
• Collaborate with shop, warehouse, scheduling, and field teams to ensure efficient project execution.
• Support project closeout with accurate invoicing and documentation.
• Assist with business development by participating in customer visits and capturing project opportunities.
• Apply degree in Construction Management, Mechanical/Civil Engineering or related field to grow project management skills.
