Job summary

Island Mechanical Corporation is a Hawaii-based general contractor specializing in pipeline construction, fabrication and directional drilling for utilities and refineries. A Project Engineer provides support to the Superintendent and Project Managers on an assigned project, performing routine activities and aiding in information distribution.

Responsibilities include interpreting plans, developing estimates, coordinating quotes, updating schedules, tracking costs, and ensuring safety plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in place of the degree would be 5 years as a Project Coordinator with field experience in various divisions.
• Exposure to projects/technologies (e.g., fueling, electrical, gas) adds value.
• Strong written and verbal communications and time management.
• Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications.
• Proficient in MS Office including Microsoft Project and Excel.
• Detail oriented with a positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
• Ability to travel as needed and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Construction experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Interpret plans and specifications as a technical resource.
• Resolve questions and problems on the project.
• Develop project estimates and assist in negotiations.
• Acquire vendor and subcontractor quotes.
• Develop and update the project schedule.
• Report production quantities on a weekly basis.
• Submit weekly status reports and two-week look ahead.
• Track costs of labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
• Coordinate site safety plans with the safety department.
• Closeout project Documentation and archive records.
