Job summary

Island Mechanical Corporation in Hawaii seeks a Project Engineer to support the Superintendent and Project Managers on an assigned project, performing routine tasks and collecting information for the team.

You will interpret plans, manage vendor quotes, track costs, update the project schedule, and help ensure safety. A construction background and strong communication are essential; travel and valid driver's license may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent.
• 5 years experience as Project Coordinator with field exposure across divisions.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Project and Excel.
• Detail oriented with effective time management.
• Willingness to travel and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Construction experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serves as project technical resource to interpret plans and specifications.
• Resolves questions and problems as they arise.
• Develops project estimates and participates in related negotiations.
• Acquires vendor and subcontractor quotes.
• Develops and updates the project schedule accurately.
• Tracks costs of labor, equipment, material, and subcontracts.
• Reports weekly project status and safety metrics to owner.
• Closeout includes documenting, archiving project files and RFIs.
