Job summary

Upgrade Resources in Fort Worth, TX is seeking an entry-level Project Engineer to support project managers on commercial HVAC and plumbing construction. This on-site role offers exposure to planning, procurement, field support, and closeout across sizeable mechanical projects in hospitals, data centers, and high-rise buildings.

You will review plans, coordinate with contractors and vendors, maintain documentation, and contribute to cost tracking and schedule updates.

Qualifications

  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • 0–2+ years in commercial construction, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, or project coordination.
  • Ability to read construction drawings and specs.
  • Strong organization and communication skills.
  • Willingness to spend time in the field.
  • Commercial HVAC, plumbing, mechanical piping, or construction internship/field experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and execution of commercial HVAC and plumbing construction projects.
  • Review plans, specs, submittals, shop drawings, schedules, and contracts.
  • Maintain logs for RFIs, submittals, drawings, meeting notes, change items, and closeout.
  • Support material procurement, purchase orders, delivery tracking, equipment coordination, and vendor communication.
  • Assist with change orders, billing backup, schedule updates, cost tracking, and project reporting.
  • Coordinate with general contractors, owners, subcontractors, vendors, superintendents, foremen, and internal operations teams.
  • Attend jobsite, progress, coordination, and preconstruction meetings.
  • Visit active jobsites to support field coordination, progress tracking, issue resolution, safety, and quality efforts.
  • Identify design conflicts, scope gaps, schedule risks, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Build professional relationships with customers, trade partners, and internal teams.

Role Overview

The Project Engineer supports Project Managers with planning, coordination, documentation, procurement, field support, and closeout for commercial HVAC and plumbing construction projects. Required Background
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • 0 to 2+ years of relevant commercial construction, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, or project coordination experience
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and shop drawings
  • Strong organization, communication, follow-through, and task management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment
  • Willingness to spend time in the field and support jobsite activities
  • Commercial HVAC, plumbing, mechanical piping, or construction internship or field experience is a plus
