This role offers a compensation range of $70,000–$95,000 annually, DOE, and full-time employment. Ideal candidates have a related bachelor’s degree and 1–2 years’ experience with plans, docs, and project software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Engineering preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience in commercial construction or related field.
• Strong understanding of construction plans and project documentation.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; project software a plus.
• OSHA safety training is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with day-to-day project coordination.
• Review plans, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and project documentation.
• Prepare, track, and distribute RFIs, submittals, transmittals, and other correspondence.
• Assist with schedules, procurement, material tracking, and cost documentation.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, architects, engineers, and clients.

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to join our commercial construction team in San Jose, CA. The Project Engineer will support project managers and field teams throughout the construction lifecycle, helping ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with day-to-day project coordination.
• Review plans, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and project documentation.
• Prepare, track, and distribute RFIs, submittals, transmittals, and other project correspondence.
• Assist with project schedules, procurement, material tracking, and cost documentation.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, architects, engineers, and clients.
• Review subcontractor documents, invoices, change orders, and pay applications.
• Maintain accurate project records and ensure documentation is organized and current.
• Participate in project meetings and prepare meeting minutes and action-item tracking.
• Assist with quantity takeoffs, estimates, and change-order pricing as needed.
• Support field teams with document control and resolution of construction-related issues.
• Monitor project progress and communicate potential schedule, cost, or coordination issues to the Project Manager.
• Assist with closeout activities, including punch lists, warranties, O&M manuals, and final documentation.
• Promote and maintain a strong culture of safety, quality, teamwork, and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience in commercial construction, construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, and project documentation.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Experience with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk, or similar platforms is a plus.
• Ability to work collaboratively with project teams, subcontractors, consultants, and clients.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
• OSHA or other construction safety training is a plus.
