Your Opportunity

Stantec’s multi-disciplinary office in Sarasota, Florida has an opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Project Engineer. We are seeking a candidate with experience in professional practice and design related to community development. This position will involve significant projects, interaction with clients and government agencies, and effective teamwork. #CommDevFlorida

Your Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform all aspects of civil engineering design including layout/geometry, grading, drainage, paving, water, sewer, and erosion control. Projects may include land development (all types/sectors), roadway/intersection design, and preparation of construction plans and related reports.
  2. Prepare complete submission packages, supporting calculations, cost estimates, project schedules, and other duties.
  3. Engage in the development of designs through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
  4. Utilize technologies in developing three-dimensional models of civil systems and provide markups for junior engineers/designers.
  5. Prepare and revise documentation in various civil phases, including site plans and details.
  6. Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and external stakeholders such as consultants, owners, contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
  7. Participate in client meetings to gather project requirements, perform value analysis, and assist with basic cost estimating.
  8. Assist the Project Manager in developing and managing project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.
  9. Lead the preparation and coordination of project specifications with construction documents.
  10. Perform and oversee calculations using standard and proprietary software.
  11. Participate in constructability reviews.
  12. Conduct quality assurance and quality control on projects.
  13. Assist in developing new standards and specifications for the civil group.
Your Capabilities and Credentials

· Ability to perform all aspects of design (grading, streets, water, sewer, storm drain, hydrology, erosion control, etc.) with a focus on technical and project delivery excellence.

· Sound knowledge of industry practices and a commitment to customer service excellence.

· Experience with both private and public sector projects.

· Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.

· Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

· Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil3D, hydrology/hydraulic design software, and Microsoft Office.

· Experience in client management and business development is an asset.

Education and Experience

· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering.

· Minimum 6 years of experience in civil/site design.

· Registered Professional Engineer in FL or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Work Environment

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods. Field work may include exposure to weather conditions.
