Job summary

Spencer Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to plan, coordinate, and manage on-site construction activities in the Southwest region. This role supports project controls, scheduling, cost tracking, and client communications while ensuring quality and safety standards.

The position requires at least 1 year of experience and a bachelor's degree in a related field. Travel is required; work is conducted at field/offi ce sites, including Yuma/San Luis, AZ. Visa sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience in construction engineering, field support, or related role.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant job experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with construction software platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project controls to ensure compliance with contracts, budgets, schedules, and job costing.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules to ensure timely, on-budget completion.
  • Support monthly forecasting, cost tracking, and preparation of client pay estimates.
  • Oversee material deliveries for quality, quantity, and contract compliance.
  • Negotiate and manage subcontractor and supplier agreements.
  • Represent the company in project meetings and maintain strong communication with clients.
  • Collaborate with field personnel to ensure efficient and aligned project execution.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Required Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact clearly and effectively with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and familiarity with construction-specific software platforms.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; employer does not provide visa sponsorship.
