Job summary

Spencer Construction in Deming, NM seeks a Project Engineer to plan, coordinate, and manage on-site construction activities, ensuring quality and safety. Travel is required as projects span the Southwest and beyond.

Required are 1 year of construction-related experience and a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. Proficiency in MS Office and construction software is expected for effective project controls.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in construction engineering, field support, or a related role.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration (Accounting, Finance, or Management), or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact clearly with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with construction-specific software platforms.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and manage on-site construction activities to meet quality and safety standards.
• Manage project controls to ensure compliance with contracts, budgets, schedules, and job costing.
• Develop and maintain project schedules for on-time, on-budget completion.
• Support monthly forecasting, cost tracking, and preparation of client pay estimates.
• Oversee material deliveries for quality, quantity, and contract compliance.
• Negotiate and manage subcontractor and supplier agreements.
• Represent the company in project meetings and maintain strong client communication.
• Collaborate with field personnel to ensure efficient project execution.

Job Summary
