Start Date: Immediate
Experience Level: 1-5 years
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7.5-hour workday with a 30-minute unpaid lunch
Work Arrangement: Hybrid, with a minimum of two days onsite per week

Position Overview

A confidential public-sector clean energy organization is seeking a Project Engineer to support a portfolio of clean energy and innovation projects. This position will work with project leads, engineers, contractors, consultants, and state stakeholders to support project administration, coordination, cost control, scheduling, documentation, and oversight.

The Project Engineer will help ensure that project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and documentation are maintained in accordance with established project-management procedures. The role will also support initiatives advancing New York State’s clean energy and climate goals.

Responsibilities
  • Support the planning, administration, coordination, and oversight of assigned projects.
  • Monitor project schedules and deliverables from internal teams, external consultants, and contractors.
  • Build, maintain, and update project schedules.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects progress according to established timelines.
  • Conduct regular follow-ups regarding outstanding deliverables, action items, and project requirements.
  • Schedule project meetings and calls, prepare meeting minutes, and organize project notes, files, and folders.
  • Assist project managers and engineers with coordinating and reconciling review comments from multiple departments.
  • Review project designs and bid evaluations as they relate to overall project completion and provide recommendations.
  • Perform cost studies and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Support project budget and cost-control activities to help ensure compliance with budgetary and regulatory requirements.
  • Distribute, review, and maintain project documentation and configuration records.
  • Prepare project updates, reports, and other written communications.
  • Support power-system engineers with project administration and limited oversight responsibilities.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with external consultants, contractors, technical teams, and stakeholders.
  • Complete additional project-management and administrative assignments as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
  • At least three years of project-management experience, preferably within the energy, utility, engineering, construction, or clean-technology sectors.
  • Experience coordinating projects, schedules, budgets, documentation, and deliverables.
  • Knowledge of current project-management practices and contract administration.
  • Experience maintaining relationships with external consultants and following up on project commitments.
  • Ability to manage daily responsibilities while remaining responsive to changing priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver comprehensive project updates and reports.
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to organize and maintain electronic project files, documentation, meeting notes, and schedules.
Assignment Requirements
  • Candidates must reside within the Tri-State area.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work as W-2 employees of the staffing provider.
  • This position is not fully remote and requires at least two days onsite each week, with the possibility of additional onsite days based on business needs.
  • Candidates must have appropriate personal computer equipment and a reliable internet connection for virtual workdays.
  • Work is paid based on actual hours worked. The assignment does not include paid vacation, sick leave, or work during designated organizational holidays.
