  • Support scheduling coordination and project closeout.
  • Track procurement status, lead times, and vendor documentation.
  • Assist with change order documentation and cost tracking.
  • Support closeout documents, warranties, O&M manuals, and test reports.

Job description

BESCO is seeking an entry-level Project Engineer to support the successful planning, coordination, documentation, and execution of electrical construction projects. This role is designed for a recent graduate or early-career construction professional.

The Project Engineer will work closely with Project Managers, field leadership, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams to support project documentation, submittals, RFIs, procurement, change management, scheduling coordination, and project closeout. This is a hands‑on learning role with exposure to both administrative and field operations.

The right candidate is organized, curious, and detail oriented.

Key Responsibilities
Project Documentation & Coordination
  • Maintain organized project files and accurate project records.
  • Understand and mitigate risks associated with the management of contract documents.
  • Support Project Managers in tracking project requirements, deadlines, deliverables, and action items.
  • Organize and distribute project documents to internal teams, vendors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Assist in preparing, reviewing, and tracking submittals.
  • Help prepare and track Requests for Information related to drawings, specifications, scope gaps, constructability issues, and field conditions.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and field teams to gather project information as directed.
  • Support the review of project drawings, specifications, addenda, bulletins, and revised documents.
  • Attend project meetings as needed and document action items and follow-ups.
  • Assist with tracking open issues that may affect project progress.
Procurement & Material Tracking
  • Assist with tracking material releases, procurement status, delivery dates, equipment lead times, and vendor documentation.
Change Orders & Cost Tracking
  • Assist with gathering documentation for potential change orders.
  • Support Project Managers in preparing, organizing, and tracking change order requests.
  • Maintain logs for pending changes, approved changes, cost impacts, and related project documentation.
  • Assist with basic cost tracking and reporting using company systems.
Closeout Support
  • Assist with collecting and organizing closeout documents, including warranties, as‑built, O&M manuals, test reports, inspection documentation, and final project records.
  • Support punch list tracking and closeout coordination.
  • Help ensure project documentation is complete and organized before final turnover.
Qualifications

Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Building Science, or a related field.
  • Internship, co‑op, or prior work experience in construction, engineering, architecture, or a trade contractor environment.
  • Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft 365, and/or Spectrum.
  • Exposure to mechanical, electrical, or plumbing systems.
  • Interest in growing into a Project Manager or operations leadership role.
