Currie & Brown is seeking a Project Engineer to support a large-scale data center construction program in Texas. Candidates should be based in or accessible to the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) metro area and willing to work at project sites throughout North Texas.

Working as an extension of the client’s project delivery team, the Project Engineer will support the day-to-day execution of construction activities, including field coordination, contractor oversight, project documentation, schedule and progress tracking, quality management, and issue resolution.

This role is ideal for a construction professional who thrives in the field, has strong attention to detail, and can effectively coordinate across contractors, consultants, and client stakeholders in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

This is a fully on-site, site-based position requiring daily support at active construction locations.

To support team members working at remote project sites, accommodations may include:

  • Complimentary room and board through a workforce housing hub
  • Internet access
  • Laundry services
  • Transportation
  • On-site meals and snacks
Key Responsibilities
  • Support daily field operations and monitor construction activities for alignment with project plans, specifications, schedules, and client requirements.
  • Conduct routine site walks to assess installation progress, workforce productivity, construction readiness, and potential project constraints.
  • Review, coordinate, and track RFIs, submittals, change requests, punch list items, and other construction documentation.
  • Coordinate with general contractors, subcontractors, consultants, vendors, and client stakeholders to support efficient project execution and timely issue resolution.
  • Track key project milestones and assist with schedule updates, progress reporting, look-ahead planning, and schedule recovery efforts.
  • Document field observations, quality concerns, construction challenges, and corrective actions.
  • Participate in project meetings, contractor coordination sessions, safety briefings, and planning meetings while maintaining action-item tracking and follow-through.
  • Support quality assurance and quality control activities throughout construction.
  • Monitor site safety performance and communicate observations, potential hazards, and required corrective actions to the appropriate project stakeholders.
  • Prepare and maintain daily reports, field logs, progress updates, meeting documentation, and weekly client deliverables.
  • Proactively identify and elevate risks or issues that could impact schedule, cost, quality, commissioning, or operational readiness.
  • Support turnover planning, commissioning activities, project closeout, punch list completion, and final documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 3+ years of construction experience in a Project Engineer, Field Engineer, Assistant Superintendent, Construction Coordinator, or similar role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Experience supporting data center, mission-critical, industrial, advanced manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, or large-scale commercial construction projects preferred.
  • Working knowledge of construction means and methods, drawing and specification review, field coordination, document control, and project reporting.
  • Experience managing or supporting RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, action logs, and other construction documentation.
  • Familiarity with MEP systems, commissioning activities, and multidisciplinary field coordination is preferred.
  • Ability to identify construction risks, troubleshoot field issues, and drive items toward resolution.
  • Strong organizational, written communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management platforms such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar systems.
