Job Description

Position Title: Mechanical / Project Engineer

Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting direct hire Mechanical / Project Engineer opportunity.

Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for calculations for Pressure Vessels in accordance with ASME Section VIII.
  • Responsible for calculations of piping stress.
  • Responsible for maintaining piping specifications in accordance with ASME B31.1 and B31.3.
  • Responsible for execution of projects; defining scope, establishing budgets, planning resources, scheduling work, generating designs and specifications, and overseeing procurement, production and shipment of work.
  • Responsible for maintaining effective relationships with customers, contractors, and internal clients. Communicate, coordinate and document project execution and changes externally and internally, keeping correspondence and document tracking up to date.
  • Manage contracts, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and codes, adjusting designs, managing change orders, quoting, and procuring approvals.
  • Oversee generation of design documents, identify design needs, utilize in‑house engineering skills, prepare material specifications, bills of material, and detailed designs; outsource design and engineering when necessary.
  • Manage all aspects of project budgeting, from initial estimates to final cost analysis.
  • Maintain and support a safe work environment, reporting unsafe conditions, keeping work areas clean, preventing injuries and illnesses, and adhering to the Company Safety Manual.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Manager of Engineering.
Job Qualifications
  • PE in the state of Washington.
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Travel to customer sites within the US and overseas as required; trips may last up to 4–5 weeks.
  • Working knowledge of the ASME Pressure Vessel Code, Section VII‑II.
  • Working knowledge of ASME Power and Process Piping Sections B31.1 and B31.3.
  • Experience in project management and contract management.
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, communication, interpersonal, and technical writing skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with keen attention to detail; able to handle multiple projects and direct team activities.
  • Proficiency in interpreting complex specifications, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, MS Project) and the Windows environment.
