Job summary

Nassal, part of the PCL family, is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Nassal office. The role focuses on contract progress, change management, scheduling, and coordinating subcontracts with design teams.

You will apply construction knowledge, review drawings, and manage subcontract packages while ensuring safety and quality programs are upheld across projects in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Detailed knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications, project HSE, quality, materials, and standards.
• Detailed understanding of means and methods and construction sequences.
• Ability to apply basic engineering/problem-solving principles to construction challenges.
• Working knowledge of construction law and building codes.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Performs quantity takeoffs and surveys to manage contract progress, reporting, and change management.
• Maintains contracts with complex subcontracted scopes and administration, including defining work scope and monitoring progress.
• Reviews contract obligations and assists site manager in project start-up activities.
• Manages change orders including pricing, negotiating, processing, and assessing cost and schedule impact.
• Develops and monitors overall project schedule.
• Consults with designers/engineers when reviewing drawings and suggests value-added methods.
• Collaborates with project manager to create and issue tender packages and subcontracts.
• Assists the project team leads in monitoring design team for timely submittal responses.
• Reviews subcontractors’ submittals for compliance with scope and documentation.
• Provides proactive leadership for safety and quality programs.

Responsibilities

• Performs and applies quantity takeoffs and surveys to manage contract progress, reporting, and change management.
• Maintains contracts with more complex subcontracted scopes and subcontract administration, including defining work scope, answering inquiries, and monitoring progress.
• Reviews and understands broader contract obligations as per the responsible project and work scopes. Assists site manager in project start‑up activities.
• Manages change order process, including pricing, negotiating, processing, and assessing cost and schedule impact before reviewing with project manager. Performs estimates.
• Develops and monitors overall project schedule.
• Consults with designers/engineers when reviewing drawings and suggests value-added or alternative construction methods or materials.
• Collaborates with project manager to create and issue tender packages and subcontracts on more complex scopes and monitors their progress.
• Assists the project team leads in monitoring the design team for timely response to the submittal schedule.
• Participates in reviews of subcontractors’ submittals for compliance with scope, design documentation, and coordination with other disciplines against the design documentation prior to forwarding to the design team for their review.
• Provides proactive leadership for safety and quality programs.

Qualifications
