Job summary

Nassal Construction Inc. in Orlando is seeking a Project Engineer to support contract progress, change management, and schedule development on Nassal projects.

You will coordinate with design teams, manage subcontracts, and contribute to safety and quality programs while working within a collaborative PCL family environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform quantity takeoffs and surveys to track progress and changes.
• Manage subcontracted scopes, define work, answer inquiries, monitor progress.
• Support project startup activities and review obligations per contract.
• Lead change order processes, pricing, and cost/schedule impact assessments.
• Develop and monitor overall project schedule and ensure timely responses to submittals.
• Collaborate with designers/engineers on drawings and methods.
• Issue tender packages and subcontracts for complex scopes and monitor their progress.
• Support safety and quality programs and drive continuous improvement.

Here’s how a(n) Nas Project Engineer for our Nassal office contributes to our team:

Responsibilities

• Performs and applies quantity takeoffs and surveys to manage contract progress, reporting, and change management.
• Maintains contract with more complex subcontracted scopes and subcontract administration, including defining work scope, answering inquiries, and monitoring progress.
• Reviews and understands broader contract obligations as per the responsible project and work scopes. Assists site manager in project start-up activities.
• Manages change order process, including pricing, negotiating, processing, and assessing cost and schedule impact before reviewing with project manager. Performs estimates.
• Develops and monitors overall project schedule.
• Consults with designers/engineers when reviewing drawings and suggests value-added or alternative construction methods or materials.
• Collaborates with project manager to create and issue tender packages and subcontracts on more complex scopes and monitor their progress.
• Assists the project team lead in monitoring the design team for timely response to the submittal schedule.
• Participates in reviews of subcontractors’ submittals for compliance with scope, design documentation, and coordination with other disciplines against the design documentation prior to forwarding to the design team for their review.
• Provides proactive leadership for safety and quality programs.

Qualifications

• Detailed knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications, project health, safety and environment (HSE), quality, building materials, and required standards as per discipline.
• Detailed understanding of means and methods and construction sequences.
• Ability to apply basic engineering/problem-solving principles to construction challenges.
• Working knowledge of construction law and building codes.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Understanding of decision-making authority and ability to influence decisions.
• Planning, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize own work, and direct report tasks.
• Ability to create and manage a comprehensive schedule.
• Ability to formulate subcontracts and administer subcontracts and contract documents.
