Job Description

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized Professional Staffing and Recruiting firm currently seeking a Project Engineer. This is a direct-hire opportunity with a chemical manufacturing company in Illinois.

Responsibilities

1. Participate in the development of equipment standards.
2. Understand and apply customer design specifications.
3. Assist with the coordination of project design.
4. Direct drafting personnel in developing General Arrangement and Equipment Outline drawings.
5. Audit fabrication shops for evaluation prior to use.
6. Review fabricator quotations for completeness and accuracy.
7. Review purchase orders prior to issuance.
8. Review fabricator drawings.
9. Generate and review ASME code calculations and stress analysis.
10. Report project status to company personnel to determine resource demand.
11. Ensure scope, schedule, and budget control are achieved on assigned tasks.
12. Inspect fabrication/construction sites as needed.
13. Observe field construction activities to measure and document contract requirements.
14. Participate in equipment commissioning to ensure systems meet contract requirements and customer expectations.

Requirements

• B.S. in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
• 0-5 years of related experience.
• Experience with ASME code calculations (Compress).
• Strong knowledge of AutoCAD (2D), Microsoft Office.
• Understanding of project management fundamentals.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work as part of a project team.
• Some travel required (10-20%), including international.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States.
• Must have or be able to secure a passport.

Preferences

• 5+ years of experience in the chemical process industry.
• AutoCAD 3D / Plant 3D experience.
• CAESAR II pipe stress analysis experience.

Pay Range: $75,000 - $95,000 per year, based on experience, education, skills, and qualifications.
