Job summary

Spherion Staffing, LLC in Minnesota seeks a practical Project Engineer to lead the technical transition of new customer electronics projects into our manufacturing facility. You will bridge design and production, assess requirements, conduct DFM reviews, and ensure smooth builds with ECOs and BOM management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent plus 3+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Experience with PCB design, electronic/mechanical components, and assembly practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interface with customers and internal teams.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and standard workplace applications.

Responsibilities

  • Project Onboarding: manage the technical transition of customer products into manufacturing and verify engineering documentation.
  • DFM Reviews: conduct Design for Manufacturing analyses and resolve design-related issues early with customers.
  • Engineering Changes: evaluate, write, and implement ECOs and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Documentation: define and release assembly drawings, component layouts, and production procedures.
  • Sustaining Support: provide ongoing technical support to customers and internal departments.

We are looking for a practical and collaborative Project Engineer to lead the technical transition of new customer electronics projects into our manufacturing facility. In this role, you will bridge the gap between design and production-assessing project requirements, conducting Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews, and ensuring everything is set up for a smooth build. You will also provide ongoing engineering support for existing products, driving continuous improvements that enhance quality and productivity.

Responsibilities


  • Project Onboarding: Manage the technical transition of customer products into manufacturing, ensuring all necessary engineering documentation is verified and ready.

  • DFM Reviews: Conduct Design for Manufacturing (DFM) analyses and collaborate with customers to resolve design-related issues early.

  • Engineering Changes: Evaluate, write, and implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs).

  • Documentation: Define and release assembly drawings, component layouts, and production procedures (such as test or packaging requirements).

  • Sustaining Support: Provide continued technical support and guidance to customers and internal departments for existing products.

  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance the quality, repeatability, and efficiency of assembly processes.


Qualifications


  • CAD Experience: Experience using PCB layout software, Gerber Viewer programs, or SolidWorks is a strong plus.

  • Adaptability: A self-starter mentality with the ability to pivot between independent work and collaborative team settings.

  • Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of printed circuit board (PCB) design, electronic/mechanical components, and assembly practices.

  • Technical Literacy: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and procedures.

  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interface professionally and respectfully with customers and internal teams.

  • Organization: Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize workloads independently.

  • Tech Savvy: Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard workplace computer applications.

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or Quality) OR equivalent specialized engineering experience, plus 3+ years of relevant engineering experience.
