Job summary

SST Direct is seeking an experienced Project Engineer for an EPC firm that self-performs a significant portion of construction for utility-scale solar projects. The role requires 100% travel across the Southeast and West Texas; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

Salary starts at $75,000 with negotiable terms based on experience. An annual 10% bonus (plus a 10% kicker on the first 10% depending on performance) is offered, along with per-diem, a company truck and fuel card, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline required.
• Spanish-speaking a plus.
• Proficient with MS Office Suite; exposure to scheduling software like Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.

Responsibilities

• Organize and control project elements to complete engineering projects.
• Define objectives by reviewing proposals and plans with management.
• Assign personnel to project phases and review contractor bids.
• Determine specifications by studying product design and requirements.
• Prepare cost estimates from technical studies and tests.
• Design and conduct tests to confirm performance.
• Schedule project activities and sequence elements.
• Monitor progress and resolve issues to maintain timelines.
• Review designs and plans to control costs and changes.
• Prepare status reports and analyze trends for actions.
• Maintain project data by entering and backing up data.

This position requires 100% travel, primarily throughout the Southeast and extending as far as West Texas. Recent college grads are encouraged to apply

Responsibilities for Project Engineer:

• Completes engineering projects by organizing and controlling project elements.
• Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans and conferring with management.
• Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements, assigning personnel to phases and elements, and reviewing bids from contractors.
• Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards.
• Completes technical studies and prepares cost estimates.
• Confirms product performance by designing and conducting tests.
• Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements.
• Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems.
• Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan, scheduling changes, and recommending actions.
• Controls project costs by approving expenditures and administering contractor contracts.
• Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions.
• Maintains project data base by writing computer programs; entering and backing up data.

Requirements for Project Engineer:

• Bachelor or Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or other related discipline required
• Spanish-speaking a plus
• Proficient with MS Office Suite of tools, exposure to schedule software, Primavera (P6) or Microsoft Project
