Job summary

Pedagog Recruiting & Careers seeks a Project Engineer to plan and manage capital improvement and infrastructure projects from concept through closeout at our Indianapolis facilities. You will work with operations, engineering consultants, regulators, and leadership while handling multiple initiatives.

The role requires a bachelor’s in a related field, 4+ years of experience, strong reading of plans and specs, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Civil, Construction, or related field.
  • 4+ years of project engineer/management experience.
  • Ability to read and understand design plans, specs, and construction documents.
  • Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Experience with Excel, Bluebeam, Word, and Teams preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage capital and infrastructure projects from preliminary evaluation and feasibility through final closeout.
  • Coordinate design, engineering consultants, contractors, permitting agencies, utilities, and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop project scopes, cost estimates, budgets, schedules, bid documents, RFPs, and procurement packages.
  • Manage contractor solicitation, bidding, bid evaluation, and contract award recommendations.
  • Support traditional and alternative project delivery methods, including Design-Build and BOT.
  • Provide construction administration, field inspections, schedule and quality monitoring, and contractor coordination.
  • Review pay applications, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation.
  • Manage project financial tracking, risk, punch lists, warranty administration, and closeout.
  • Support civil, building, utility, marine, and rail infrastructure projects as needed.
  • Travel to project sites as required and maintain all safety standards.

Job description

The Project Engineer will plan and manage capital improvement, maintenance, and infrastructure projects from concept and budgeting through design, bidding/procurement, construction, and closeout. The role works closely with operations, engineering consultants, contractors, regulatory agencies, and leadership while managing multiple projects across active industrial facilities.


Projects may include civil infrastructure, utilities, buildings, rail systems, and marine facilities. The ideal candidate brings strong project management and construction experience, including bidding and contractor coordination. Experience with Design-Build, Building Operate Transfer (BOT), marine, and rail projects is a plus.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Civil, Construction, General Engineering, or related field.

  • 4+ years of Project Engineer, Project Management, or related construction/engineering experience.

  • Ability to read and understand design plans, specifications, and construction documents.

  • Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and project management skills.

  • Experience with Excel, Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, and Teams preferred.

  • PMP certification preferred.

  • Experience with bidding/RFPs, Design-Build, Building Operate Transfer (BOT), marine, and/or rail projects is a plus.
