Project Engineer
  • Shift/Hours: Monday - Friday - 7:30am-4:00pm
  • Employment Type: Direct Hire
  • Pay Rate: $95,000+/annually
  • Location: Whippany, NJ

The Mechanical Engineer will serve in roles including technical engineering of new products, subject matter expertise, and project management support. The Mechanical Engineer will report to the Chief Engineer and support global and detailed level design, computer-aided solid modeling, component-level research and design, technical definition and support of technical requirements for suppliers, and technical support for end users and other customers.

Duties:
  1. Use PTC Creo for modeling mechanical and mechatronic components including rotating components, brakes, clutches, actuators, valves, sheet metal structures, composite fairings, and general aerospace structures.
  2. Perform basic and finite element analysis of custom designs for strength, fatigue, vibration characteristics, thermodynamics, and motion studies using CAD-assistive software programs.
  3. Create or assist with qualification test procedures, acceptance test procedures, and validation procedures for development hardware.
  4. Oversee & assist the drafting team with the development and checking of two-dimensional drawings (especially machining, assembly, and electrical drawings) or annotated 3D CAD models.
  5. Conduct investigative and qualification testing for military and aerospace requirements.
  6. Write engineering technical reports typically expected during multi-year aerospace development programs.
  7. Assist with the company's introduction of new but proven technologies to ensure first-in-class product reliability, safety, and operational productivity.
  8. Assist or perform assembly or rework of development mechanical and packaging designs.
  9. Assist the production floor with troubleshooting of mechanical components for first and continuing production articles.
  10. Work closely with other engineers of different disciplines to meet project objectives.
  11. Collaborate courteously and resolutely with customers, subcontractors, and suppliers to achieve project goals.
Required Education and Experience:
  1. B.S. degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering.
  2. Experience in mechanical engineering development and systems engineering activities supporting military or commercial markets.
  3. Relevant experience with Creo or similar CAD software, including complex geometries.
  4. Relevant experience with FEA software such as ANSYS.
  5. Ability to review drawings with specific experience in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  6. Analytical skills required for mechanical design including stress analysis, fluid mechanics, and modal analysis.
  7. Excellent problem-solving and time-management skills.
  8. Excellent business and technical communication skills.
  9. Business and technical acumen.

Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 Per Year
