Job summary

Hydro is seeking a Project Engineer in Durham, NC to drive project planning, coordination, and execution across all phases. You’ll ensure engineering standards, safety protocols, and client specs are met while delivering high-quality systems.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 3–7 years of project engineering experience with CAD proficiency. On-site work with potential across industrial projects is expected, with benefits including 401(k) matching and PTO.

• Proficiency with CAD and engineering documentation tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop drawings, specifications, and BOMs in line with company engineering standards.
• Serve as the technical go-to for Project Managers and Production, resolving questions and supporting field issues.
• Verify manufacturability and catch constructability issues before they become problems.
• Keep documentation airtight — updated drawings, controlled revisions, and clean turnover packages.
• Champion continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and refining standards across projects.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a dynamic, detail-oriented Project Engineer to join our team. You'll drive project planning, coordination, and execution across all phases — making sure engineering standards, safety protocols, and client specs are met every step of the way. Your technical know-how and leadership will directly shape the quality and timeliness of the projects we deliver.

What You'll Do

• Develop drawings, specifications, and BOMs in line with company engineering standards
• Serve as the technical go-to for Project Managers and Production, resolving questions and supporting field issues
• Verify manufacturability and catch constructability issues before they become problems
• Keep documentation airtight — updated drawings, controlled revisions, and clean turnover packages

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Civil or Mechanical)
• 3–7 years of project engineering experience in industrial or process equipment
• Proficiency with CAD and engineering documentation tools
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, drug test and DOT physical
