Job description

Who we are

Connect Construction is the construction management side of the Connect group of companies here in Columbus. We work alongside Connect Real Estate, Connect Housing Blocks, and Mid-Ohio Contracting Services on everything from historic renovations to new mid-rise housing.

What sets us apart is how we build. Our sister company, Connect Housing Blocks, builds complete apartment units inside a 630,000 SF facility in Columbus while the site is being prepped. Those finished, metal-framed modules are then craned into place, up to 11 stories, in weeks instead of the months a conventional build takes. That means less weather delay, a tighter supply chain, and better quality control.

A lot of companies are still talking about modular. We’re already doing it. Because much of our work comes from within our own group, we have a steady pipeline of projects.

The role

You’ll be a key part of our project teams. You’ll split your time between the office and the jobsite and work directly with our Project Managers and Superintendents from bidding through closeout. This role works well for someone with a few years in the industry who wants to take on more, and it’s also a strong starting point for recent grads who have had internship or co-op experience.

What you’ll do

  • Keep project documentation organized in Procore
  • Write and track RFIs and submittals, and review shop drawings
  • Help build and update project schedules
  • Support bidding, scope writing, and subcontractor buyout
  • Track special inspections (soils, concrete, steel)
  • Put together meeting agendas, minutes, and action items
  • Help with owner billing and subcontractor pay apps, waivers, and insurance certificates
  • On modular projects, document unit condition from delivery through setting, punch list, and owner turnover
  • Help put together closeout documents

In the field, you’ll get hands-on experience with trade coordination, site logistics, quality control, and safety. You’ll also help improve how we install modular units, which is still being figured out across the industry.

Where this can go

This role is meant to grow. You’ll get exposure to every part of running a project, both office and field, which sets you up to move toward a Project Manager role. We’re looking for people who want to build a long-term career with us.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • 1–3 years of construction experience (internships and co-ops count)
  • Procore experience is a plus
  • Strong organization and communication skills, and you like solving problems
  • Willingness to work the hours the schedule calls for
  • Lean planning or scheduling experience is a plus
  • Ability to work on active jobsites, including climbing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs

What we offer

  • A front-row seat to modular construction at scale

This position requires passing a background check and a federal-level drug screen. Candidates who can’t meet these requirements will not be eligible, regardless of state-specific regulations.
