Job summary

CyberCoders is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead planning, coordination, and execution of multifamily and modular construction projects in San Diego. You will work with PMs, superintendents, subcontractors, and design teams to keep projects on schedule and within budget while meeting quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or related field.
  • Experience in construction project engineering, coordination or CM.
  • Knowledge of multifamily residential projects and off-site/modular methods.

Responsibilities

  • Support project teams through all phases of construction from preconstruction to closeout.
  • Assist with planning, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Review drawings and specs to identify scope, risks, and requirements.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and document control.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Support bid packages, subcontractor outreach, bid leveling, and contract administration.
  • Track budgets, commitments, change orders, and cost reports.
  • Support schedule updates and milestone tracking.
  • Participate in project meetings and maintain accurate records and logs.
  • Assist with constructability reviews, value engineering, and cost-saving efforts.
  • Support closeout, punch lists, warranty docs, and turnover packages.

Job description

Position Overview

The Senior Project Engineer supports the planning, coordination, and execution of multifamily and modular construction projects from preconstruction through project completion. This role works closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and design teams to help ensure projects remain on schedule, within budget, and aligned with quality standards.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in multifamily construction, construction administration, and project coordination. This individual will play a key role in managing project documentation, subcontractor coordination, procurement activities, and communication between field and office teams while supporting successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support project teams throughout all phases of construction, from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Assist with project planning, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and subcontractor coordination activities.
  • Review construction documents, specifications, and drawings to identify scope requirements and potential project risks.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and document control processes.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and vendors to resolve design and construction issues.
  • Support procurement efforts by assisting with bid package development, subcontractor outreach, bid leveling, and contract administration.
  • Track project budgets, commitments, change orders, and cost reports.
  • Assist with schedule updates and monitor project milestones and deliverables.
  • Participate in project meetings, design coordination meetings, owner meetings, and subcontractor coordination meetings.Help maintain accurate project documentation, reports, meeting minutes, logs, and project records.
  • Monitor material procurement schedules and coordinate deliveries to support field operations.
  • Assist with constructability reviews, value engineering initiatives, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Support project closeout activities, punch list completion, warranty documentation, and turnover packages.
  • Work closely with field teams to help identify and resolve project challenges proactively.
Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in construction project engineering, project coordination, or construction management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience supporting multifamily residential construction projects, including podium, Type III, and/or Type V projects preferred.
  • Familiarity with modular, prefabricated, or off-site construction methodologies is a plus.
  • Understanding of construction means, methods, sequencing, and project delivery processes.
  • Experience managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement activities, and project documentation.
  • Ability to interpret architectural, structural, civil, MEP, and shop drawings.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with project teams, subcontractors, consultants, and clients.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to project execution.
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Office Suite.
  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, BuildingConnected, or similar construction management platforms.
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or other scheduling software is preferred.
  • Exposure to AutoCAD, Revit, BIM coordination, and model-based workflows is beneficial.
  • Experience working with project budgets, cost tracking, and reporting tools.
