Job summary

ABB’s Energy Industries Division seeks a Project Engineer in Cleveland, OH to lead process automation projects across renewables, oil & gas, chemicals, and power. You’ll shape technical plans, ensure safety standards, manage budgets, and collaborate with customers to deliver on time and within scope.

The role requires a engineering degree and 2–5+ years with Distributed Control Systems, plus strong communication. Hybrid work in Cleveland with up to 25% travel supports US and global projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Science or related engineering field.
  • 2–5+ years of engineering experience with distributed control systems.
  • Strong focus on safe work practices and following safety guidelines.
  • Must read, write and speak English fluently; US citizenship or permanent residency required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as technical lead/design authority for Process Automation projects in multiple industries.
  • Develop and review standard processes, tools, and techniques ensuring safety and contractual compliance.
  • Create work plans and budgets, including risk assessments for the engineering discipline.
  • Support contract managers with changes in scope, costs, and schedule impacts.
  • Coordinate remote and on-site project activities in the US and globally as needed.
  • Travel up to 25% to support customer sites and project delivery.
  • Mentor entry-level engineers and cross-functional teams to foster continuous improvement.
