Job summary

SkyWater Search Partners is assisting a well‑established powersports manufacturer in the Twin Cities to hire a Project Engineer. You will translate product concepts into engineering requirements and guide resources from concept through launch, collaborating with Product Management, Engineering, Industrial Design, Sourcing, suppliers, and global teams.

The role emphasizes strong technical communication and hands‑on development with CAD proficiency, supporting testing, validation, and integration

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 4+ years in project engineering or product development.
  • Experience in powersports/auto/consumer products is preferred.
  • Proven track record taking products from concept through launch.
  • Ability to translate product requirements into engineering specs and interfaces.
  • Experience creating Level 1/2 specifications or equivalent docs.
  • Strong cross-functional communication and project leadership.
  • Hands-on with mechanical design, testing, and validation.
  • CAD proficiency to review engineering designs.
  • Experience coordinating with suppliers or global teams is valued.
  • Excellent problem solving, negotiation, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of engineering requirements, documentation, specs, testing, and validation plans.
  • Translate product requirements into engineering interfaces and design specs.
  • Lead and participate in design reviews and cross-functional meetings.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Vehicle Architecture, Industrial Design, Sourcing, suppliers, and global teams.
  • Manage multiple product development projects with schedules and resources.
  • Guide internal engineers, external resources, and international teams.
  • Support integration of accessories into vehicle platforms.
  • Develop testing requirements and support prototyping and validation activities.
  • Benchmark competitors and evaluate materials, processes, and functionality.
  • Provide technical direction and resolve product development issues.
  • Maintain project documentation and report status to leadership.
  • Support CAD development, design revisions, and rapid prototyping.

We're excited to partner with a well-established powersports manufacturer in the Twin Cities to help them find a Project Engineer to join their growing engineering team. This position will play a key role in the development and execution of a diverse portfolio of parts and accessories, serving as a technical liaison between Product Management, Engineering, Industrial Design, Sourcing, suppliers, and global development teams.

The ideal candidate is a strong technical communicator with product development experience who can translate product concepts into clear engineering requirements, guide engineering resources, and drive projects from concept through launch. Responsibilities
  • Lead development of engineering requirements, technical documentation, specifications, testing requirements, and validation plans.
  • Translate product requirements into clear engineering requirements, interfaces, and design specifications.
  • Lead and participate in design reviews and cross-functional product development meetings.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Vehicle Architecture, Industrial

  • Manage multiple product development projects simultaneously, including schedules, resources, risks, and deliverables.
  • Guide internal engineers, third-party engineering resources, suppliers, and international development teams.
  • Support the design and integration of accessories into vehicle platforms.
  • Develop testing requirements and support hands‑on fitting, testing, prototyping, and validation activities.
  • Benchmark competitive products, designs, materials, processes, and functionality.
  • Provide technical direction and resolve product development issues throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain project documentation and provide regular status updates to leadership.
  • Support CAD development, design revisions, rapid prototyping, and 3D scan data as needed.
Desired Skills And Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 4+ years of experience in project engineering, product development, or new product development.
  • Experience in powersports, automotive, consumer products, retail-based manufacturing, or a related industry preferred.
  • Proven experience developing physical products and managing projects from concept through launch.
  • Strong ability to develop engineering requirements and technical specifications from product requirements.
  • Experience creating or driving Level 1 and Level 2 specifications or comparable technical documentation.
  • Strong cross-functional communication and project leadership skills.
  • Hands‑on mechanical aptitude with knowledge of product design, development, testing, and validation.
  • CAD proficiency and ability to understand and review engineering designs.
  • Experience working with suppliers, contractors, or global engineering teams is highly valued.
  • Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Customer‑focused mindset with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and non‑technical teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
