Job summary

NEXHR is seeking a Project Engineer to join its Project Execution team in the North America market. This hands-on role supports project managers and progressively takes ownership of smaller projects, helping deliver industrial gas and process projects from kickoff to closeout.

You will review P&IDs, drawings and vendor docs, coordinate issues across customers, vendors and field teams, assist with procurement and cost tracking, and participate in change management and project controls.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial Engineering or related discipline preferred.
  • Experience in industrial gas, chemical processing, EPC, mechanical construction, process piping.
  • Cryogenic experience is advantageous but not required.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites (20-35%).

Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers with planning, coordination, and execution of projects.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and vendor documents.
  • Coordinate technical issues among customers, vendors, subcontractors and field teams.
  • Assist with procurement, BOMs, and subcontractor management.
  • Support schedules, cost tracking, purchase orders, rentals, and project controls.
  • Identify scope changes and assist with change orders and variation requests.
  • Maintain project documentation and closeout packages.
  • Provide field support during fabrication, installation, commissioning and startup.

Job description

Our client is a specialist industrial gas and cryogenic services company supporting plant operations, maintenance, construction, equipment relocations, commissioning, repairs, and capital projects across North America. Their expertise spans air separation and industrial gas facilities, process equipment, mechanical systems, piping and field construction.

Due to their continued growth, we are looking for a Project Engineer to join their Project Execution team. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role offering excellent exposure to live projects and a clear pathway into Project Management.

You will work closely with experienced Project Managers, supporting the successful delivery of industrial projects while gradually taking ownership of smaller projects and work packages.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Support Project Managers with planning, coordination, and execution of projects
  • Review P&IDs, drawings, specifications, and vendor documentation
  • Coordinate technical issues between customers, vendors, subcontractors, field teams, and fabrication shops
  • Assist with procurement, material tracking, BOMs, and subcontractor management
  • Support schedules, cost tracking, purchase orders, rentals, and project controls
  • Identify scope changes and assist with change orders and variation requests
  • Maintain project documentation, closeout packages, and action-item tracking
  • Provide field support during fabrication, installation, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting
  • Assist with estimating handover and execution planning for new projects
Project Management Development

As your experience grows, you will take ownership of smaller projects, including:

  • Project planning and kick-off activities
  • Customer communication
  • Cost and schedule management
  • Procurement and subcontractor coordination
  • Change management
  • Billing support and project closeout
What We're Looking For
  • Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline preferred
  • Experience within industrial gas, chemical processing, EPC, mechanical construction, process piping, rotating equipment, pressure vessels, or industrial manufacturing
  • Cryogenic experience is advantageous, but not essential
  • Willingness to travel to project sites (20-35%)
