Job summary

Dawson Construction LLC is seeking a Project Engineer to support field operations on our commercial/industrial projects. This on-site role is based in Bellingham, Washington, with a pay range of $75,000 to $95,000 annually and a pathway to leadership within the company.

You will assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with bidding, scheduling, RFIs, submittals, and change orders while coordinating with owners, architects, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure safe, on-time project

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in construction management or related field (or equivalent work exp).
• 2–3 years of project engineering experience on commercial/industrial projects.
• Proven competency in Project Engineer duties.

Responsibilities

• Supports Project Manager and Superintendent on construction projects.
• Provides field, technical and administrative support at the job site or office.
• Coordinates with owners, architects, subcontractors and suppliers; tracks contracts.
• Assists with bidding including take-offs and quotes; tracks RFIs and submittals.
• Helps build/update project schedules; maintains plans and specs; coordinates change orders.
• Prepares and coordinates communications, purchase orders, and permitting as needed.

Position Description

Position Summary

Assists the Project Manager and Project Superintendent with a variety of project, managerial, and administrative functions on construction projects.

Essential Functions

1. Field Support
2. Works at a specific job site, multiple sites, or in the office to provide field, technical and administrative support to the Project Manager and Project Superintendent.
3. Serves as the secondary point of contact with owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
4. Produces and tracks contracts with subcontractors, suppliers and consultants.
5. Ensures safety is an everyday topic and supersedes all other factors to prevent accidents and create a safe working environment for everyone.
6. Project Technical Support
7. Assists with bidding including conducting material take-offs and soliciting quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
8. Collects and tracks RFI's and submittals.
9. Assists with building and updating project schedules.
10. Maintains and distributes current project plans and specifications; Reviews shop drawings and submittals.
11. Prepares and coordinates change orders.
12. Project Administrative Support
13. Ensures communication is clear among all parties, including composing and preparing correspondence.
14. Collects and processes purchase orders. Assists in the ordering of materials and supplies.
15. Assists with permitting issues, as necessary.
16. Schedules jobsite meetings and records/maintains minutes for meetings.
17. Other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

1. Knowledge of the construction industry, specifically commercial and industrial general contracting.
2. Ability to maintain a good attendance record.
3. Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel and Word).
4. Demonstrated competency in scheduling (Phoenix) and PDF mark-up (BlueBeam) software.
5. Ability to work effectively in ERP system software (Viewpoint).

Position Requirements

Education and Experience

1. Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Engineering or closely related is required, equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
2. 2 to 3 years of project engineering experience on commercial or industrial projects.
3. Demonstrated competency in Project Engineer duties.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

1. Compensation - $75,000 to $95,000 annual salary.
2. Annual Bonus; depends upon individual and company performance.
