Job summary

You will drive project delivery from design through startup, coordinating with contractors and vendors while ensuring safety and compliance.

Responsibilities include developing budgets and schedules, reviewing drawings, and supporting reliability improvements.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in project engineering and engineering design.
• Ability to understand and troubleshoot complex industrial systems and equipment.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks; familiarity with JDEdwards or similar ERP systems.
• Working knowledge of ASME, API, NBIC, and NEC standards.

Job Summary

The Project Engineer is responsible for all mechanical and electrical related issues in projects as well as leading projects supporting two paper machines, power and recovery, pulp, woodyard, recaust, bleaching and sodium hypochlorite plant. Performs as a team member of various project teams where capital improvements have been identified against specific business issues. Also serves as a coordinator or clearing house of ideas for improvement techniques and implementation strategies.

Project Management

• Lead assigned capital and major repair projects by developing cost estimates, schedules, budgets, and capital expenditure documentation
• Prepare bid packages, evaluate proposals, administer contracts, review change orders, and coordinate vendors and contractors
• Coordinate project installations while balancing operational requirements, project schedules, technical requirements, and safe work practices
• Manage project scope, budget, schedule, and progress and maintain complete project records, drawings, and equipment documentation
• Lead pre-startup safety reviews, project implementation, startup activities, and project closeout for assigned projects

Engineering Design

• Verify and evaluate existing equipment layouts and dimensions to support engineering and design activities
• Perform engineering analyses and make recommendations for equipment selection, optimization, and installation planning
• Develop and review engineering calculations, detailed design drawings, and equipment installation documentation with limited supervision
• Coordinate design activities with consultants, equipment manufacturers, vendors, and other project stakeholders to resolve technical issues
• Review engineering drawings and equipment documentation for technical accuracy, constructability, and project requirements

Maintenance & Operations Assistance

• Provide independent technical support to troubleshoot moderately complex equipment, facility, and operational issues
• Research, evaluate, and recommend solutions to improve equipment reliability, maintainability, and operational performance
• Coordinate contractor activities for maintenance work during planned equipment outages and address technical and execution issuesDevelop engineering calculations, design drawings, and technical documentation to support maintenance installations and modifications
• Collaborate with operations and maintenance employees to identify recurring issues, implement solutions, and improve safe and reliable equipment performance

Other duties as assigned

Education and Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in project engineering and engineering design
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks
• Ability to support Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and related activities
• Working knowledge of applicable construction and repair codes and standards, including ASME, API, NBIC, and NEC
• Ability to understand and troubleshoot complex industrial systems and equipment
• Proficiency in JDEdwards or similar enterprise systems
