Clearwater Paper Corporation in Lewiston, ID, is seeking a Maintenance Manager II to lead maintenance and reliability to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient facility performance. Qualifications include a Bachelor's in engineering, 7+ years in maintenance/engineering/PM, 4+ years in supervision, and CMMS/JD Edwards experience.

• 7+ years of experience in maintenance, engineering, project management, and/or production management.
• 4+ years of supervisory experience, including performance management, coaching and employee development.
• Functional knowledge of predictive and preventive maintenance programs, work order management systems, RCFA, FMEA, maintenance work control processes, and world-class maintenance and reliability practices.
• Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), such as JD Edwards.

Job description

The Maintenance Manager II leads maintenance and reliability operations to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient facility performance. The position oversees maintenance planning, scheduling, budgeting, outages, and capital project execution while leading the reliability team and driving improvements in equipment reliability, productivity, safety, and cost performance.

Essential Functions

• Lead maintenance and reliability planning, prioritization, scheduling, and execution within assigned departments
• Oversee maintenance activities to support safe, reliable, and efficient facility performance
• Lead internal and third-party reliability resources, establishing clear roles, expectations, and accountability aligned with site objectives
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance to maintenance, engineering, and asset teams to strengthen reliability practices
• Support major repairs, outages, capital planning, and project execution to ensure reliability strategies are effectively implemented

Metrics & Planning

• Establish and monitor key reliability and maintenance metrics to identify improvement opportunities and measure performance
• Ensure equipment data is accurate, maintained, and accessible to support reliability analysis and decision-making
• Develop and implement action plans based on data analysis to improve asset reliability and operational performance
• Manage maintenance budgets and resources within assigned areas to support business objectives
• Participate in annual business planning and maintenance budget development

Reliability Culture

• Promote a culture of reliability by establishing clear expectations and aligning maintenance practices within assigned areas
• Champion precision maintenance and a "fix it right the first time" mindset through standardized systems and best practices
• Implement reliability tools and continuous improvement practices to improve equipment performance and asset life
• Lead quality, production, reliability, and cost improvement initiatives within assigned areas
• Coordinate scheduled outages, shutdowns, and maintenance activities while supporting capital project execution

Safety

• Promote a strong safety culture through employee engagement and clear safety expectations
• Manage implementation of safety, fire protection, and process safety improvements
• Support local and corporate safety initiatives, including behavior-based safety programs
• Identify maintenance and reliability risks, implement mitigation measures, and verify control effectiveness
• Partner with safety and health teams to strengthen technical safety practices and site safety performance
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field required
• 7+ years of experience in maintenance, engineering, project management, and/or production management required
• 4+ years of supervisory experience, including performance management, coaching and employee development
• Functional knowledge of predictive and preventive maintenance programs, work order management systems, Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), maintenance work control processes, and world-class maintenance and reliability practices
• Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), such as JD Edwards

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in manufacturing and operational areas, including eye and hearing protection, hard hat, and steel-toed footwear
• Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, odors, temperature variations, and industrial conditions
• Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling as required by the role
• Extended periods of standing, walking, and working on concrete or uneven surfaces
• Climbing stairs, ladders, platforms, or elevated work areas as required by the role
