A Day in the Life of a Roofing Project Director

As a Project Director, you'll oversee roofing projects from initial planning through successful completion, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. Your day may include coordinating with customers, field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to keep projects moving forward. You'll develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, and resources while monitoring progress and addressing challenges that arise throughout the project lifecycle. You'll also visit job sites, communicate project updates, review performance, and ensure work is completed according to customer expectations, contract requirements, and applicable safety and quality standards.

In this role, you'll provide leadership and direction across multiple roofing projects while keeping a close eye on scope, costs, timelines, and overall project performance. You'll work proactively to identify potential issues, develop solutions, and keep customers and project teams informed every step of the way. Success in this position requires strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced construction environment. Responsibilities:

• Overall management of projects
• Works with leadership to understand, evaluate, develop, and execute the scope of work
• Solicits, receives, and approves proposals from subcontractors to perform work within budget
• Assists with the collection of project documentation and presentation of backup needed to support the work performed/invoiced
• Prepares project schedule, including job crew and sub-contractors schedule, according to the scope of work
• Coordinates site visits with subcontractors to facilitate meetings/visits with clients, adjusters, and consultants to adjust scope and pricing
• Maintains a daily log of conditions, activities, communications, and notable events
• Fills in as needed when additional responsibilities/tasks need to be completed, including physical labor
• Creates and maintains job activity paperwork, jobsite inventories, and prepares reports
• Prepares all information for data entry into estimating software including but not limited to project details/notes
• Proactively monitors and provides updates when there is risk of a project not meeting expected budget, gross profit margin, or schedule
• Manage receipt and approval of change orders
• Maintains clean and safe job site
• Manages bids and RFP packages
• Gathers all necessary field measurements/psychometrics calculations, notes, plans, photo documentation, materials, etc.
• Produces estimates in Xactimate, T&M or other professional estimation tools
• Selects, measures, and tracks metrics
• Works with PMs to buy out projects to achieve projected margins
• Develops scope letters and establishes ROM and burn rates
• Communicates with clients, insurance companies and consultants regarding all aspects of the loss
• Conducts audits and invoicing with leadership oversight
• Negotiates claim settlements with leadership oversight
• Collaborate with Operations Team on all projects to ensure estimating accuracy and buy in

Experience & Education:

• Relevant leadership experience
• 3 or more years' industry experience
• Experience reading blueprints/architectural plans
• Requires high-school diploma or equivalent
