Description du poste

Project Director – Advanced Technology / Semiconductor

Location: Upstate New York – Albany Region

Sector: Advanced Technology / Semiconductor Manufacturing

Project: Multi-Billion-Dollar Semiconductor Fabrication Facility

Position: Project Director

Project Stage: Preconstruction progressing into full EPC execution

Compensation: $275,000–$315,000 base + 20–30% bonus

The Opportunity

We are supporting a leading global engineering, construction and EPC organization with the appointment of an experienced Project Director for a major multi-billion-dollar semiconductor fabrication project in Upstate New York, near Albany.

The program is moving into preconstruction, with full EPC execution to follow and groundbreaking targeted for the next major phase of the project.

This is a senior project leadership position requiring an accomplished construction professional with experience delivering mega-projects within semiconductor, advanced technology, mission-critical or similarly complex industrial environments.

The Project Director will take a key leadership role across the program, coordinating large multidisciplinary teams and maintaining accountability for safe, predictable project delivery across engineering, procurement, construction, project controls, commercial management, quality and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Director will provide senior leadership throughout preconstruction and project execution, including:

  • Lead the successful delivery of a multi-billion-dollar advanced technology construction program.
  • Provide executive leadership across engineering, procurement and construction activities.
  • Develop and implement the overall project execution strategy.
  • Lead large, multidisciplinary and cross‑functional project teams.
  • Drive project performance across safety, schedule, cost, quality and technical delivery.
  • Provide leadership as the project transitions from preconstruction and design into major field execution.
  • Oversee construction planning, sequencing, logistics and site execution.
  • Coordinate major CSA, MEP, utilities and process‑related construction packages.
  • Maintain senior oversight of project budgets, forecasting, procurement, contracts and change management.
  • Ensure appropriate project controls, reporting, scheduling and risk‑management processes are maintained.
  • Manage senior relationships with the client, engineering teams, contractors, subcontractors, vendors and other stakeholders.
  • Lead and challenge contractors and project teams to maintain schedule and construction productivity.
  • Identify major project risks and implement mitigation and recovery strategies.
  • Support procurement strategies for major equipment, construction packages and long‑lead items.
  • Drive a strong safety and quality culture across a large and complex construction organization.
  • Resolve significant technical, commercial, contractual and construction issues.
  • Ensure effective coordination between engineering, construction, systems completion and commissioning.
  • Lead the project toward successful startup, commissioning and final turnover.
  • Provide clear reporting and communication to executive project and corporate leadership.
Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will ideally be an established Project Director, Senior Project Director, Construction Director or senior Project Executive with significant experience delivering large and technically complex capital projects.

Particularly relevant experience will include:

  • Extensive experience within an EPC, General Contractor, design‑build or major construction organization.
  • Direct responsibility for construction/project delivery rather than predominantly owner‑side program management.
  • Previous semiconductor fabrication facility experience would be highly desirable.
  • Candidates from major mission‑critical, Data Center or advanced technology construction programs will also be considered.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering mega‑projects or major capital programs, ideally in the $1B+ range.
  • Experience leading large multidisciplinary organizations involving engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning.
  • Strong knowledge of major CSA and MEP construction packages.
  • Experience managing significant contractor and subcontractor organizations.
  • Strong commercial awareness across budgets, forecasting, procurement, contracts and change management.
  • Experience establishing and managing major project schedules and recovery strategies.
  • Strong client‑facing and executive stakeholder‑management capabilities.
  • Demonstrable safety and quality leadership.
  • Experience taking complex projects from preconstruction/design through construction, commissioning and turnover.
Semiconductor / Advanced Technology Experience

Candidates with direct semiconductor experience may have delivered projects involving:

  • Wafer fabrication facilities
  • Cleanrooms and controlled manufacturing environments
  • Central utility buildings/plants
  • Ultra‑pure water systems
  • Process cooling water
  • Bulk and specialty gases
  • Process chemical systems
  • High‑purity piping
  • Exhaust and abatement systems
  • Clean dry air
  • High‑capacity electrical distribution
  • Emergency and backup power
  • Complex HVAC and environmental controls
  • Tool installation and hook‑up
  • Automation and controls
  • Systems completion and commissioning

Direct semiconductor experience is highly attractive; however, candidates with substantial mega‑project leadership in mission‑critical or similarly complex advanced technology environments may also be considered.

A critical requirement is the ability to demonstrate genuine construction‑delivery leadership.

The preference is for candidates who have worked directly within an EPC, GC or design‑build environment, where they have been accountable for delivering the project to the client.

This should include experience with areas such as:

  • Contractor and subcontractor management
  • Procurement
  • Project controls
  • Cost and forecasting
  • Contract administration
  • Change management
  • Safety
  • Quality
  • Commissioning and turnover

Candidates whose careers have been predominantly owner‑side oversight without significant direct EPC/GC construction accountability are unlikely to be as closely aligned with the position.

Leadership Profile

This position requires someone capable of operating at the highest level of a major construction program.

The successful candidate should be comfortable leading large cross‑functional teams, challenging engineering and construction organizations, engaging directly with senior client stakeholders and making decisions that materially affect project safety, cost, schedule and execution.

They will need to combine executive‑level leadership with a strong understanding of field construction, maintaining visibility across the project while ensuring individual teams and package leaders remain accountable for delivery.

Why Consider the Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to take a senior leadership position on a multi‑billion‑dollar semiconductor manufacturing program with a major international engineering and construction organization.

The scale, technical complexity and long‑term nature of the project provide the opportunity to lead across the complete project lifecycle — from preconstruction and engineering through major construction, commissioning and turnover.

For an established Project Director with a background in semiconductor, mission‑critical, advanced technology or mega‑project EPC construction, this represents a significant career opportunity on one of the most technically demanding types of capital project in the US.
