Job description

Energy Dome is a company with revolutionary technology for large scale and long duration energy storage.

Our proprietary technology is based on a thermodynamic process that uses CO2 to store electricity cost-effectively with unprecedented round-trip efficiencies. The simplicity of the process as well as the use of readily available off-the-shelf equipments opens the way for Energy Dome to quickly become an important player in the energy storage market.

As we expand our international footprint, we are strengthening our project execution capabilities and are looking for an experienced Project Director to lead full-scope EPC projects from development through commissioning and handover.

Role Overview

The Project Director will be fully accountable for the end-to-end delivery of complex utility-scale energy projects executed under EPC or multi-contract structures.

This role requires a senior professional with a strong EPC background who has successfully led projects from permitting and detailed engineering through construction, commissioning, and final handover.

The Project Director will lead cross-functional teams and manage all key subcontractors across engineering disciplines, ensuring safety, schedule, budget, and quality targets are met.

This role is critical in projects where Energy Dome is not only supervising site activities but directly responsible for full EPC execution.

Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Accountability
  • Assume full P&L responsibility for assigned projects.
  • Lead projects from permitting and pre-construction through commissioning and handover.
  • Ensure alignment between development, engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for all project-related matters.
Engineering & Technical Oversight
  • Coordinate and supervise all engineering disciplines (civil, mechanical, electrical, process, control systems).
  • Ensure technical coherence between design, procurement, and construction.
  • Oversee design reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering initiatives.
  • Ensure constructability and commissioning readiness are embedded from early project phases.
Construction & Site Management
  • Oversee on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with HSE standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise EPC contractors and key subcontractors.
  • Monitor progress, manage change orders, and resolve critical site issues.
  • Ensure site execution aligns with contractual milestones.
  • Lead commissioning strategy and execution.
  • Ensure proper testing, validation, and performance verification of systems.
  • Manage final documentation and client handover.
  • Ensure contractual performance guarantees are achieved.
Contract & Stakeholder Management
  • Manage EPC contracts and major subcontract agreements.
  • Lead negotiations, claims management, and variation orders.
  • Interface with clients, authorities, lenders, and strategic partners.
  • Maintain strong relationships with local and international stakeholders.
Risk & Financial Management
  • Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and cost control.
  • Proactively manage risks and mitigation plans.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate governance and reporting requirements.
Required Experience & Background
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in EPC project delivery within the energy, power generation, industrial plants, or large infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong experience in construction management of complex industrial plants.
  • Direct experience managing multidisciplinary engineering subcontractors.
  • Solid background in commissioning and plant startup activities.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large-scale contractors and site teams.
  • Strong understanding of contractual frameworks (EPC, EPCm, multi-lot structures).
  • Experience operating in international and multicultural environments.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field).
  • Proficient or native English.
  • Willingness to travel (30% of the time).
  • Strong leadership and decision-making capability.
  • Ability to operate under high complexity and ambiguity.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
  • Deep understanding of construction sequencing and site logistics.
  • Results-oriented and execution-driven.
  • High accountability and ownership mentality.
Nice to Have
  • Experience in energy storage, renewable energy, or power generation projects.
  • Experience working on transnational projects (US–Europe collaboration).
  • Familiarity with regulatory and permitting processes in multiple jurisdictions.
