POSITION SUMMARY

As the Project Developer, you will develop energy solutions well suited to the technical and business needs of our customers across the commercial, municipal and federal energy markets. In this role you will be responsible for creating collaboratively developed technical and financial solutions that help our clients achieve their efficiency, sustainability and reliability goals.

KEY DELIVERABLE

Manage multiple technical resources to fulfill project objectives and deliverables. In this position you will be accountable for leading technical project development including business development support, technical approach to preliminary and detailed assessments, schedules, leading client workshops and in cohesion with the Business Development and Project Developer leaders, responsible for selling a successful project.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supports the Account Executives during the project qualification phase.

• Gains a deep understanding of client expectations and the sales strategy developed by the Account Executive.

• During the development phase (PA’s, IGA’s), works is close coordination with the Account Executive to understand and manage customer expectations, lead and document customer meetings, coordinate site visits to investigate ECMs, etc.

• Oversees project development, engineering, cost estimating.

• Coordinate visits to customer project sites to investigate existing mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing systems and document energy performance information, including utility data and facility design drawings

• Works with the cross functional teams to develop detailed scope, schedule, cost and savings estimates that align with project goals and customer requirements.

• Provides technical support throughout the project lifecycle to ensure the solutions presented to clients are well conceived, appropriately priced and deliver expected client value in the form of cost savings or other benefits.

• Coordinates with the Account Executive to conduct planning workshops to clarify client goals, baselines, measures, economic criteria, construction constraints and M&V requirements.

• Develops and manages the project development scope, budget and schedule throughout the development phase to ensure work is completed on time and within budget.

• Work collaboratively with sales, engineering and operations in the development, sale, risk management, procurement and execution of the performance contracts

• Ensure that the final deliverables from the project development phase (PAs, IGAs) are aligned with sales strategy, reviewed and accepted by Operations, and meet profitability goals.

• Assist with project finance activities including selection of financing partners, identification of funding and financing options, and creation of final client cash flows.

• Ensure projects are properly turned over to Operations.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Experience developing and supporting energy services and projects for non-federal clients such as state, municipal, K-12, higher education and industrial energy markets.

• Ability to effectively allocate and manage resources to maximize the teams’ skillsets to meet the specific project needs.

• Strong collaboration skills required to deliver solutions that meet client needs.

• Excellent client engagement skills and the ability to build confidence for the project and ECMs identified. A strong understanding of practical application of technology to ensure identified energy measures provide maximum client value.

• Ability to organize and manage technical audits involving analysis, qualification of energy savings and development of complex solutions involving supply side savings, HVAC, water conservation, waste management, and other end uses.

• Propensity for effective abstract thinking and problem solving.

• Ability to create and maintain relationships with industry partners and customers.

• Experience with client financial decision processes and awareness of the financial analysis and metrics which drive these decisions.

• Knowledge of measurement and verification, project cost estimating and project accounting.

• Ability to communicate with all levels of trade labor, operations, engineering and management.

• Awareness of energy generation technologies.

• Excellent technical presentation, report, verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong foundation in technical software and computer skills.

• Strong capability with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Pay: Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For (Colorado/New York City/California/Washington) this ranges from $XX,XXX.XX-$XXX,XXX.XX plus annual incentive, benefits and retirement program as outlined above.
