Job summary

Ledgent is seeking a Project Cost Accountant to support project and finance teams by ensuring accurate tracking, recording, and reporting of costs. The role focuses on labor, material, subcontractor, and other project costs, billing support, and maintaining project budgets.

This position requires a Bachelor's in accounting or related field and at least 3 years in project or cost accounting. You'll work across departments to improve processes while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in accounting/finance-related field.
• 3+ years of accounting, project accounting, cost accounting, or related experience.
• Experience in construction, engineering, manufacturing, or project-driven industries is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and organized project financial records and supporting documentation.
• Review, verify, and record labor, material, subcontractor, and other project-related costs.
• Process accounts payable invoices and ensure proper coding and allocation to projects.
• Match invoices to supporting documentation, purchase orders, contracts, or receiving records.
• Enter approved invoices and cost transactions into the accounting system.
• Monitor project costs to ensure expenses are charged accurately and consistently.
• Assist with customer invoicing, progress billing, and supporting documentation requirements.
• Support the preparation and maintenance of project budgets, schedules of values, and cost reports.
• Track billing status and assist with collections activities as needed.
• Obtain and maintain required project compliance documentation, waivers, releases, or other contractual records.
• Generate project financial reports and provide requested analysis to project managers and finance leadership.
• Collaborate with operations, procurement, and accounting teams to resolve discrepancies and improve processes.
• Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
