Job summary

Wunderlich-Malec Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Project Accountant in Eden Prairie, MN to manage financials from proposal to close-out, including billing, cost tracking, and reporting.

You will work with project managers to set up client projects and ensure accurate invoicing and compliance. Ideal candidates have 3–7 years of project accounting experience, strong math and organizational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and ERP systems.

Qualifications

• Associate Accounting degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 3-7 years direct experience in project accounting including billing, A/R, and revenue recognition.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe; basic ERP knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project managers on accounting from proposal to close-out.
• Validate project proposals, PO, and internal project setup documents are complete and accurate.
• Set up and maintain client projects within the accounting system for accurate billing and reporting.
• Understand billing types and how invoices should be presented to clients (cost-plus, lump-sum).
• Prepare, review, and submit client invoices on time and accurately.
• Review vendor POs and invoices for projects.
• Conduct project reviews including cost-to-complete, month-end WIP, and variances.
• Manage project accounts receivable and collections; resolve cash receipt discrepancies.
• Understand U.S. sales tax laws related to services and materials.
• Close out projects ensuring billing and commitments are resolved.
