Job summary

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a growing organization that supports large-scale infrastructure and project-based operations seeking a Project Accountant / Cost Controller in Houston.

You will partner with project teams, monitor budgets, forecast costs, manage cash flow, and provide leadership with financial insights to improve profitability. This role moves beyond traditional accounting to become a true business partner across operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 5+ years of accounting, project accounting, cost accounting, or cost control experience preferred.
• Strong Excel skills and financial reporting capabilities required.
• Experience in construction, engineering, infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, or other project-based environments preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with high accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills across operations, accounting, and leadership teams.

Responsibilities

• Track and monitor project budgets, commitments, subcontractor costs, purchase orders, and spending activity.
• Manage project forecasting, cost projections, cash flow reporting, and variance analysis.
• Support change order administration and ensure accurate financial tracking throughout the project lifecycle.
• Partner with project managers and leadership to provide financial insights and recommendations.
• Prepare monthly project reporting, including budget-to-actual analysis and EAC forecasts.
• Assist with customer invoicing, forecasting, and project financial reconciliations.
• Identify financial risks, opportunities, and cost-saving initiatives to improve project performance.

Key Responsibilities
