Description

Location:

San Diego, California. Candidate must currently reside in the San Diego County region or must be willing to relocate within sixty (60) days of hire.

Hybrid work model: 40% remote, 60% on-site.

General Summary

The Project Coordinator will be part of an established team providing comprehensive project coordination of system protection deployments in electrical transmission and distribution substations and circuits. Projects are in and around high- voltage substations and overhead distribution lines. The role requires experience with supporting small through large-scale projects from inception through completion.

This position involves office and field deliverable activities, including survey and QA/QC reviews in high voltage electrical substations, test facilities and corporate campuses. Commitment to safety is paramount.

Supervision Level:

  • Reports to Manager, Transmission and Distribution Field Support.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides project support, including meeting coordination and project progress tracking.
  • Maintains documentation, meeting minutes, action items, deliverables, purchase orders, material shipments, return authorizations, and change orders.
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to understand project needs and meet requirements.
  • Assists project managers with preparing work orders documents, budgets, schedules, statement of work, and project plans.
  • Prepares summaries and detailed project reports for management and project team members.
  • Communicates project milestones, progress, and deliverables.
  • Conducts audits to ensure accuracy, quality, and completeness of project scopes.
  • Monitors budgets, forecasts, and develops monthly variance reports.
  • Provides Request for Information and Request for Proposal support as needed.
  • Identifies and raises issues and risks; recommends actions to resolve.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience:

  • Project Coordinator I: 0- 2 years of project coordination experience.
  • Project Coordinator II: A minimum of 2 years of project coordination experience.

A combination of experience, education, and/or training which demonstrates the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Experience working in a regulated utility/energy, DOE, DOD, or equivalent environment.
  • Familiarity with principles and practices of project management as defined by Project Management Institute (PMI) or accredited standards.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills; skillset will be evaluated prior to engagement.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, problem-solving, planning, and follow-up skills.

Ability to:

  • Work well under pressure.
  • Influence others and convey complex project and program deliverables concisely.
  • Work in a dynamic, fast-moving team environment, under moderate supervision, and independently as needed.

Technical Knowledge of the Following:

  • Project Administration, Project Controls, Project Documentation, Project Implementation, Project Management, Project Scheduling.
  • Project Status Reporting, Project Management Software.
  • Drafting.

Education and Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in business management or equivalent field; equivalent experience with customer approval.

Physical Demands:

Physical demands are representative of those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing this job, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. In delivering projects, the incumbent will work in and around high voltage, energized electric equipment.

  • Sit or stand at a desk and use a computer workstation for up to 6 hours per day.
  • Reach and use hands and fingers to feel objects or controls.
  • Climb stairs and walk on uneven or unpaved surfaces.
  • Traverse inclined or rough terrain.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

Salary:

The salary range for this role is $75,000-90,000. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in San Diego, CA. This is the lowest to highest pay scale we reasonably expect to pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.
