UNC Greensboro’s University Libraries is seeking a Project Coordinator to oversee grant-related work across the state. You will supervise volunteers, coordinate with the Digital Technologies team, and ensure deadlines, budgets, and deliverables are met. Travel across North Carolina will be required.
The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and relevant experience in digitization or archives, with strong coordination and data skills. This is a time-limited, full-time position with the Libraries.

Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
Through expertise in information services, the University Libraries foster the success and impact of the UNC Greensboro community by promoting learning, inspiring creativity, and enhancing research and collaboration in a diverse and innovative environment. Goals: Serve as the information and learning hub for the campus by providing quality information services, technology, resources, and learning environments; Build, organize, preserve and make accessible print, electronic and unique collections that support the University’s mission and programs; Partner with faculty to develop learning tools and instructional technologies so that information literacy and research skills are integrated into the curriculum.
Enhance the research mission of the University by collaborating with faculty to develop resources and create content; Create a safe and inclusive environment by strategically embracing and enhancing diversity throughout the University’s constituencies, culture, curriculum, and outreach activities; Provide leadership on campus and beyond on scholarly communication issues by promoting open access and other new publishing models through programming and resource development; Engage with community partners to provide programs and resources that enhance the life of the University and community and build long‑term support for the Libraries.
Position Summary
The Project Coordinator’s responsibilities include acquisition, assignment, training, and supervision of volunteers across the state. In coordination with Digital Projects Manager, assess technical needs to complete grant‑related work. Report to and work closely with Digital Technology Consultant to make sure that the scope and direction of each aspect of the project is on schedule, as well as other involved parties for support. Understanding of technology requirements for successful completion of grant requirements.
Understanding of archival standards for successful completion of grant requirements, including digital imaging and photography mechanics and best practices. Collection of and ability to understand and use data and resource availability in order to best approach meeting grant requirements (surveys and data collection, coordination and discussions with county representatives, etc.). Overnight travel across the state for on‑site visits/work as needed.
Ability to manage and assign/reassign resources on a county‑by‑county basis, based upon the unique needs of the location. In coordination with Digital Technology Consultant, Liaison to county officials and negotiate access to site locations. Responsibility for day‑to‑day work, reporting, documenting, budget, and deadlines in implementing grant requirements.

Project Administration This position will be responsible for the day‑to‑day management of a SLNC / LSTA Special Projects grant. This will include responsibility for meeting each deliverable, budget management, grant reporting, and the pursuit of additional funding opportunities among other responsibilities.

Supervision of volunteer and student employees They will be responsible for proactive community engagement in order to solicit input on the project from multiple engaged constituencies, recruit volunteers, and promote the project. This will include online workshops and discussions, as well as in‑person meetings with affiliated and interested people and groups, as well as potential conference presentations.

Assist in data collection and evaluation This position will participate in the analyzation, collection, and standardization of data. This includes locating, the proper understanding, and transcription of hundreds of 17‑1800s handwritten public documents, as well as correctly adding data related to enslaved individuals into spreadsheets for eventual database import. The position will be responsible for the creation and editing of high resolution, archival‑quality scans of each record created for the project.

Final editing of collected material This position will be responsible for thoughtfully and knowledgeably answering any questions about data as collected, as well as completing final edits on acquired data, including a review of both textual and image data. The position will provide input and guidance to not only those collecting data, but also the database administrator and Digital Technology Consultant as to how the data should be interpreted and stored in the database or web application.

Grant management and reporting The position will be responsible for the training and supervision of community volunteers and student employees, creating and providing training materials, and the review of all work completed by others on the project.
