Job summary

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint).
  • Experience working independently and in groups.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow, Google Docs, and Teams.

Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit

Enterprise Application Development and Delivery teams plan, integrate, and support IT services that are essential to University business functions. Our work includes planning and managing resources to deliver outcomes aligned with University strategic goals. The technical capabilities we support include platforms for digital workflows, ERP , digital engagement, and IT service management.

Position Summary

The Business Analyst for Enrollment Management will lead day-to-day development of business and functional requirements for technical work, primarily supporting student success and enrollment management initiatives. This position will also help document and revise existing business processes so that they are efficient and utilize campus technologies effectively.

The BA works with staff in functional areas in enrollment management and student success as well as architects, systems analysts, and developers to help qualify and shape work requests so that priority and effort are accurately evaluated and appropriate resources are scheduled for timely delivery of high quality IT solutions. The BA also assists clients in the testing and review of technical solutions delivered by platform teams.

The BA works with a variety of software development lifecycle and project management approaches to help the University achieve strategic goals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Mid-career with Masters and 1-2 yrs experience or Bachelors and 2-4 yrs experience or equivalent combination of education/experience.
Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates

Preferred Qualifications

  • ECBA , CCBA , or CBAP certification (or equivalent) strongly desired.
  • Experience with student modules in Ellucian Banner (or other SIS system) strongly desired.

Key Responsibility

Functional area process support

  • Act as liaison between platform teams, functional area staff, and vendor representatives.
  • Consults with functional area staff recommending supported technology that can be applied to area business needs.
  • Coordinates meetings between technical and functional area resources to scope work.
  • Helps functional area staff make technology requests through the appropriate channels (support, self-service, work request).
  • Contribute to development and maintenance of strategic roadmap representing functional area business needs.
  • Works with functional area leadership to identify initiatives that require technology resources so that they can be qualified and prioritized.
  • Maintains data in Enrollment Management portfolio used to generate the area roadmap.
  • Assist Enrollment Management staff in establishing and documenting area processes.
  • Collects and organizes area business process documentation.
  • Identifies missing or low maturity technology-dependent business processes and makes recommendations for process improvements.

  • Guide additional asset purchases through appropriate review and approval processes (pre-purchase review, security review, etc.).
  • Routes work to technical platform team backlogs or to Enrollment Management portfolio group for project prioritization.
  • Identifies type of work based off qualifying criteria (feasibility, alignment, complexity, scope of impact, cost).
  • Aid in the creation of detailed work breakdowns.
  • Creates project tasks in consultation with project managers.
  • Creates agile stories in consultation with technical team leads.
